YM135 Info

Thanks Audrey. I don't know why I always forget to Google something for an answer. Now if my titles didn't say "approximately so many arpents" I guess I could figure out my exact acreage.

Well, I had never heard of an arpent, so I learned another new thing today! I spend every day calculating so if you need any more conversions, I'm sure to have them.

When you survey an irregularly shaped lot, do you you use the area formulas and convert the square feet to acres? Just wondering, because many years ago when looking for a house, one I looked at had the weirdest lot. Part of it was a rectangle and the other part was a parallelogram attached to it at an angle, though the area came to about 3 acres.

Audrey,
We use the DMD (Double Meridian Distance) method or use COGO (coordinate geometry) to calculate sq.ft. of a parcel, then divide by 43560 to get the acreage.

Here in Texas, the official unit of measurement as far as length goes is the Texas vara or 33 1/3 inches. The vara is of Spanish origin and has different values in different locations but 33 1/3 inches ( must be held as a fraction, never 33.3333 ) works better in calculations because 36vrs. = 100 feet.

All very cool information! One summer I worked for certified planners on the master plan for Fort Belvoir Army Post. One nifty little item they had was called a planimeter or something like that. You ran it around the perimeter of an area on a map and it calcuated the area for you, even if it was an area under a curve. I realize that isn't the same as doing an actual survey, but it sure beat using Calculus. I also spent a day with our county engineers 2 summers ago and learned a little about their surveying.

I inadvertently hijacked this post though with my questions. I suppose anyone with info on the YM135 should contribute instead of me to help the original poster!

Is there anywhere to get information and specs on a YM135 besides buying a copy of the manual? I already know it's 13HP, 2WD, 2 cylinder, pretty much the basic things and am looking for more information about the 3 pt hitch, pto, etc.

I've recently begun the search for a small(ish) tractor and happened to find one of these for sale along the road and am just wondering where I can find some information about them.

Thanks in advance.

The YM135, like the YM155 was sold in this country from 1977 - 1981. Yanmar is phasing out parts for these tractors, but there are a lot of after market parts available. Some parts are still available from Yanmar and some are not.

1 arpent = 0.844 826 118 acre
1 arpent = 36,800.625 684 585 square foot

I have a 1110d which is pretty comparable to the 135. I'm always amazed by the tractors capabilities. That said, I couldn't live with out it being 4wd. It takes very little to get the tractor stuck. I live on a 1/2 acre lot and although the tractor is overkill, I find enough things to do with it that it's been worthwhile. I certainly wouldn't want to go any larger, there just isn't enough room to manuver the tractor. I got into a pretty hair spot last night. I was moving some dirt from my garage addition. I was trying to beat another thunderstorm but didn't make it. After it stopped raining I went back out and found the ground to be very greasy. The back end went sideways and I dropped the back tire into the footing trench. I'm lucky the tractor didn't roll over. The paddles will be going on tonight so I'll be should be able to tell you tomorrow what kind of difference they make.
