Chris,

I went back and looked at my pic, and it does look a little nose high, but i think its more the picture than the tractor. I took a look at the tires and they are correct.

I am interested in knowing more about a front PTO, and what it would cost. Though if it is going to cost more to put on a front PTO and buy a used blower than i paid for the whole tractor, i might not be as interested as i had thought i was ! Forgive me for not knowing this already, but are you a tractor, or tractor parts dealer?

As far as my question about the similarities between the Yanmar and the JD "50" series tractors..... when i was at the green tractor store (where i bought my tractor), the parts guy there commented on how the 650 / 750s were virtually all Yanmar. I just thought that if they used common motor and rear end castings, perhaps something like a subframe for a 750 might be an easy fit to my tractor. Perhaps their parts guy was mistaken, or perhaps i'm being silly for thinking they would share any parts.

Norm,

My comment about my "mid mount blower" was just a silly response to BruceR's earlier post. He may have been razzing me a bit (and rightfully so) about having the mower deck on my tractor in late February. I was just trying to have a little fun with it, even if my sarcasm didn't show in my post. The blade i bought was 84 inches when i picked it up.... a little too wide for my tractor. But since i can't pass up a good deal, and making it a bit narrower was something i figured i could handle..... i brought it home. I made it 5' 6" , which still covered my tire tracks, so it seems to be working OK for me.

I woke up to about seven inches of snow this morning... so i actually got to play around a litte !

Ductape,
Good to know you have the right tires. The wrong size tires are supposed to stress the 4WD. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Have you had time to read back through the old Yanmar posts? There is a ton of useful stuff burried back there.
I don't want to discourage you but my what's her name hasn't sofened up on the FEL yet. Maybe you will have more luck. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I got my snowblower used from Gary Jamieson up in Honesdale PA. He is a dealer and a good guy. Same as you it looks like to me that stuff that fits the JD 750 may fit the 186D. I thought the JD electric clutch off the 750 might fit the yanmar. Sometimes thay have used ones at Wengers. I decided even though the yanmar clutch was pretty salty I would get a new one from Gary who had them in stock at the time.
Do you have a kubota dealer around you? Take a look at the 7100. I always thought some of that stuff could be made to fit the 186D
I was wondering when you are plowing does the blade push the rearend to one side? It does on mine but I don't have rear wheel weights.

Ductape,
If you go to the JD web site you can check out the parts diagrams.

I can also vouch for Gary Jamieson. If it's got to do with a set up on a Yanmar, Gary knows his stuff!

He put together a complete belly mower set up for me on my Yanmar 1100 down to the last nut, bolt and bracket. He even modified existing parts from other models to fit mine. He knew exactly the dimensions that were required from years of experience with the Yanmars.

I'm pretty sure his business goes by "Jamiesons Tractors" in Honesdale, PA. If you can't find the number in directory assistance, PM me and I'll dig up the number.

Thanks
Bill

Here is the Yanmar Dealer List thread we started back in March of '02. You would like to think that it is the good dealers that are still around. Yanmar Dealer List

A Bison brand FEL came on my 1500D. It was made in Mexico. Seems to be plenty rugged, with four hydraulic cylinders and grease fittings on all moving parts. They apparently no longer make the model I have, but several others were listed on their website (I have lost url). I don't know of any dealers, but a web search might show where they can be found.

Chris,

Thanks for the list of people in the Yanmar business.... i'm sure i will find it invaluable ! I've spent many hours combing through the old posts here. I was lucky to have found this site a year and a half ago when i was looking at a Yanmar i didn't end up purchasing. Not being overly farmiliar with the brand, i wanted to make sure i wasn't buying some off-brand i couldn't get parts for ! I'm confident i made the right choice.

I'm glad to see there are many options for a front end loader. As soon as i soften up Whats-her-name, i hope to have one for my new toy..... ahem.... i mean TOOL for taking care of the yard. I can see it will take plenty of time to compare one brand to the next before making a decision.

I'm giving serious thought to that front blower i found for sale. It is a Yanmar YSS-48. Is that what your is (Chris) ? Did you put a double acting cylinder of the front to keep it from dropping like a stone? It sure does look similar to the JD front blowers at my local dealer. And you are right about some Kubota stuff looking like it will work. Guess it just depends on how good a fabricator you are. Not that i personally want a single stage unit, but take a look at these two on ebay ! Tell me the Yanmar unit isn't made by the same company as the Kubota !
EBAY # 7746205059 Yanmar
EBAY # 7593799746 Kubota

Just some food for thought!

Mine is the YSS-48. I like original Yanmar equipment when I can find it. I haven't messed with the single acting cylinder, just lived with it. The cylinder is plumbed to the single acting port under the seat which over rides the 3-pt and is controled by the 3-pt lift lever on the other side of the seat. One approach to the problem might be to put an adjustable hydraulic flow control valve on the cylinder and dial it in to let the cylinder down slowly but I havent gotten to it yet. The way it has been going lately we have only been getting 2 plowable snows a year . If we got more It might motivate me to do more with the snow equipment.
Being able to fabricate the mountings would sure open up more options but if you can find a factory unit that would be easiest.
The single stage John Deeres work surprisingly well as long as you can keep them turning at full speed.
A lot of the Yanmar implements were made by ARP. I have seen ARP brand implements a few times, always old and rusty.

OK folks. Didn't want to start a new thread.
My YM186D has a factory installed hydraulic control. I think the prevoius owner retrofitted a snow blade on the front (I didn't get it). The tractor was a trade in at a local AGCO dealer. Anyway, I don't have a garage big enough to keep the tractor(s) in so I cover it (them)with a canvas tarp. Sunday I went to start and it felt like the battery was week and cranked slow and would not rev. I found that the control lever was pushed foreward (from the tarp). Once I put back to "neutral" or center, it cranked good and ran as normal. My question is, I thought this was a 1 way valve to lift the snow blade. I did not think it had down pressure. I thought it had a "float" position. Could I plug the fittings where it comes off the resivour or do I need to put a loop so it can circulate? Yea I'm thinking about removing the valve. Look at my photo section and I think there is a photo of the valve. Could this be used for a top and tilt control ? I could route the lines to the rear instead of foreward.
I can't afford a bigger garage or a front loader so don't go down that path.
Thanks for any help
