Where would you put a drain pan under the gear box? I just use a simple oil extraction pump I got on Amazon.

Low & on the side (above the deck) would be great. With the he!! they catch, I like to flush them out periodically.

I'm old enough to remember when Farmall equipment had engineers that designed what the Farmers wanted. and then the Bean counters after there input wondered why could not sell the design.
The J.D. MX6 rotary cutter . purchased in Feb., and attached to tractor in June bush hogging weeds and clover. tossed the shaft and stump cutter

gear box made in Mexico and looked like compressed tin cans.
but no spare parts and replacement gear box cost over $1200 no warranty it would stay together .

The Spanish gear box same condition.
Bought a Bush hog rotary cutter. clang and bang never look back know it will still be working.

The country of build can be anywhere .just build strong enough to be useable.

It's a rough mower. I want it to be able to mow anything I can drive over. I want it to be tough in case there are things in there that aren't mowable. I want to mow fields driving as fast as I can without getting bounced out of my seat. I want to mow grass short. I want it to mulch whatever it cuts. I want to be able to mow close to obstacles.

I want it easy to attach and detach, easy to maintain, easy to repair.

Is that too much to ask?

I don't know if it's feasible, but I'd love to have a rough mower that could offset for mowing closer to fences.

I know WOODS offers a stump jumper that is an "add on" to the blade holder bar. Bolts on with straps that go over the blade holder, then longer pins to account for stump jumper thickness/gauge.

I do not see it as a disadvantage or advantage

When stumpjumper gets cracked, you have to change blade holder either because they are welded to each other. With this way, you can decrease your maintenance cost.

I put guide wheels on my mower. They serve two purposes. When mowing, they keep the skids from digging in and chewing up the ground. I can set the mower all the way down and have it float over the terrain. In the barn they allow the whole mower to roll, so I can push it around. It's much easier for me to move the mower to the tractor than the other way around.

Thank you for your contribution. Noted.

Best regards.

Hopefully this thread is near the end of it's useless life!
The drain plug thread is hilarious, and much more enjoyable.

That is what gives them strength...being welded together.

I agree with you, maybe there is a way to solve this issue.
