Worst car 1978 Volkswagen rabbit.

Ain't that a fact... The 2 Rabbits we owned 1977,1978 were BY FAR the worst vehicles (car or truck out of around 100 owned they also have the record of stranding me more times than all others combined...

Best truck???

Loved the 1967 Ford F 250 my dad bought new- especially after installing a 390 4 barrel in place of the 352 2 barrel at 120 k.

1977 Jeep J-10 Honcho with a 401 got 16 mpg even with the quadra trac and 15x 32 mud tires but had almost no payload capacity, It was a Great winter truck though-also put over 120k on it in addition to the 75 k that was on it at purchase. great truck that i hope to restore someday may be a problem finding a factory Levi interior though.

Several Jeep Wagoneers, typical AMC but great all season rigs
Fj 40 Landcruiser slow but built like a tank compared to the 3 jeepsters -although the one I put a fresh 455 Pontiac in was a rocket and a lot of fun.

I have to say my favorite is my current 2003 3500 Quad Cab 6 speed HO cummins equipped Ram 4x4

Great mileage, comfortable on long trips and will carry and tow everything that I need even like the factory infinity stereo,
this truck may outlast me

This is a hard question Crash. I have had a couple Chevy's and a couple Ford trucks and a handful of non-trucks, domestic and other. Love/dislike relationship with each I would say. My first and probably worst, was a previously abused Chevy 1/2 ton circa 70. Installed but not an option, were the most comfortable powered Corinthian white leather seats. Unfortunately they came out of a Chrysler Diplomat or 'better' and they weren't wired in... in fact they weren't bolted in. Didn't know it at purchase but the seats were tied down with rope. No kidding. Hey... they sort of went with the original two tone puke green/off white paint. While I sort of knew what I was getting into as the key ignition was bypassed... I really just needed (and all I could afford) was a hauler to earn a few bucks and move my 'shat'. College days.
:cool2:

Second was a new '85 S-10. Trying to be responsible... graduated, got married, and landed a career job. Problem was, in hindsight, I sold my beloved '68 Mustang GT Fastback 302 in great condition. Stupid! :mur:

But I was building a house and starting a family. What did I know? But I soon found out the truck wasn't big enough to be a working truck. Lasted about 100K miles until there was more antifreeze in the engine than oil. Time to bail.
:confused2:

The last and my sort of daily driver is an '06 F150. Extended cab XLT 4x4 with 5.4 Triton. Been a winner! While I tend to be very critical in nature, I really can't complain about this one. Maybe because life in general is better but it is comfortable, pulls a trailer or boat just fine, zero mechanical, just keeping up with the standard maintenance needs.

Most fun (and I include pleasure here)? Three way tie between my '69 Camaro 327, '68 Mustang GT fastback, and my '08 BMW 750iL. Yes, I have grown up. Amazing what you can buy used coming off of a lease... what I do with Bimmers.

I imagine many here can cite all their vehicles and their good/bad times, but most of all this thread makes me think about why I bought and sold each. Thanks for stirring up all the memories, Crash!

Best truck/car is as tie between my 1999 SuperDuty 5.4 and 1999 Crown Vic, both I still use. Only a few issues (one sensor + fuel pump on truck) since brand new. No issues with the CV.

Worst is a tie between a 78 Plymouth Fury Station Wagon and a 1980 Dodge 1/2 ton. There were too many issues to list from paint to the Lean Burn module as well as dealership support. At 83 YO I'll probably never buy any new vehicle. but it sure won't be a Mopar.... or a Government Motors brand.

Plymouth's entire line of cars in the 1970's might be the worst cars in American history. We had a 60's Fury II that was a good car. Mid 70's Fury III was a nightmare.

The worst vehicle I ever ad was a 1976 4 door Jeep Cherokee. It was so bad it wasn't funny. Constant water pump and alternator failures. Constant U-joint failures. Front windshield leaked. Literally everything in the interior broke within a year. All window handles broke. Rear window dropped into tailgate. Radio quit working, headliner fell in, It ate tires. Handled like an ocean liner, rode like a tank. Distributer constantly got water in it. Glove box was cardboard. Door cards fell apart. Getting it into and out of 4wd was a misery (I'm not talking about hubs, I'm talking about the transfer case!) All this in under 50k miles.

Despite all that, I loved it. It was my first vehicle in high school. I took it to college. It left me stranded more times than I can count.

The success of imports in this country, in my opinion, is directly related to the quality of the American automakers in the 1970s.

Sure, but we have a lot of patience with pretty high performance vintage cars, even when they don't start or something falls off the dashboard. Most of us don't extend that level of patience when our Fury III won't start when it is time to go to work, or the windshield leaks all over your wife's dress on the way to church.

Best? Probably 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD 4X4 - it's been the most practical for me

Worst? 1986 Toyota 4X4 w/ 22R 4 cyl It likes new head gaskets - Haven't had one last 12,000 miles in 16 years - I'm a slow learner

Most fun? 1985 Toyota 4X4 w/ Chevy 350

Fastest? 1970 Ford F100 w/351 Cleveland all souped up with chicken & stars. Its favorite snack was a 454 Firebird

Best truck: 2003 F250 7.3, I still have it with 87000 miles on it.
Worst truck: 2003 2500 8 liter, traded it off after 7000 miles. Factory lemon.....
Best car: 2008 Chevy Impala, sold it, wished I didn't.
Worst car: 2014 Lincoln MKS. It's left my wife stranded twice since she bought it new with fuel pump issues. Uncomfortable seats and unacceptable road noise. Still have it unfortunately.
Fun car: 2012 Mustang GT convertable. Sold it before I got myself in trouble....

OK - How can you live in Wyoming and only put 87k on a vehicle in 13 years?
