Your last generator Maintenance Run

My computers and phone system run on UPS. I would like to put my entertainment stuff on one as well, hence figuring out the circuits in the house. But the neutral issue has me wondering if the neutral goes straight through the UPS. Probably not.

I always shut down my entertainment stuff before putting a generator on or off line, so a UPS would make life easier.

It's amazing how often I am just working away and suddenly the UPS beep, and I wonder what they saw on the line.

Get a blip from the UPS at midnight every night...

Also there are times in summer heat where the UPS has fits...

Only have one at home... it is 2000W and computer, phone, LED light charger, etc...

I have a pile of UPSs and never bought a single one. It's amazing how many companies simply stick them in the back room when the batteries die and buy a new one. I have yet to get a single one that had any issue, other than needing a new battery/s. I do them a favour taking their garbage away and even get money recycling the batteries.

Exactly... the hospital has many but only a few bought new...

When I have tenants vacate office space they often leave behind UPS units... some sine wave units.

All they need is a battery.

One office had several... I asked the office manager and she acted like I was doing her a big favor taking them...

Much easier to order Amazon Prime and have a new one delivered than to change the battery...

Being that regular, grid-switching activity is probable. Either that or one of your neighbours is a retired industrial Welder, and sparks up at midnight to get off-peak power

One ex-IBM campus I worked in used to switch grid sources at midnight. You don't normally notice the activity, w/o instrumentation in place, or a UPS nearby.

I installed a 4kw battery backup several years ago because I was paranoid and didn’t want to get up in middle of night to start a cold generator.
I told everyone that I installed it so my wife would have no excuse for not going to work.
Her blow dryer and curling iron were the top priority so she could fix her hair and get to work on TIME.

I have a 3K, 120/240 V Telecom inverter, but it needs to be plugged into the 48 volt Gator Batteries.

When I ran my 10 HP RPC, it draws something like 500 amps on startup, on a 200 amp service. I used to shut off all my sensitive stuff, but always wondered how far away it affected people on our long rural line.
