Your opinion please?

The frame work is 3"x3" x3/16" , winch is rated 10,500 & the cable is 3/8" and is rated to break at 12,000. Sure hope that I don't bend or twist anything. I will be extra careful.

Don't the Farmi and other brands mount their winches lower and use pulleys for pulling from above? Looks like if the tractor don't slide it'll rotate over on its back.

yes the Farmi does mount the winch down low cause there would be too great an angle in the PTO shaft.There cable is high and that is the point that it is actually pulling from. And you are right it could roll over on its back thats why you have to be careful working in the woods.

With the winch mounted high like that, there is probably a big difference in safety between reeling in the winch to pull something and driving the tractor forward. Driving the tractor forward can cause it to flip back in a big hurry - faster than you can react. The winch speed is slow enough so that it can be shut down if it starts to pull the front of the tractor off the ground, right?

I also notice the feet on the bottom of the winch frame - they move the pivot point even further back from the rear axle. the winch would have to pull the whole tractor up and over the winch frame, pivoting on those feet, right?

but, what would happen if the relay malfunctioned and the motor wouldn't shut off? It might keep pulling the tractor over, the other way mounted or pulling from a low point it would only pull the tractor back not over. Just a thought what if.

The feet do help to stablize the whole machine and keep it from being winched rearward. There is no relay to malfunction because it is hyd. front weights are recommended so I just leave the blower on. we have very little snow here now. Nothing that we do with machinery is ever fool proof as far as saftey goes. so just go slow and be extra careful.

Deerlope three things the blade helps with 1 is buttin the logs up in the landing or yard and the other is to prtrac the pto and other parts from getting a log jammed into the pto from under the legs. Another thing is with the blade on the rear you can lower it close to the ground and back single logs up.
