Good luck with it...I love the duramax ,and it is strong but not as reliable as the 6.0, they are ultra reliable and last a long time with minimal repairs....I have an 04 duramax and it's great but it needed a 5k set of injectors at 120k,my01 gmc 8.1 big block loves gas but zero problems and lots of pulling power.

2009 2500HD Duramax/Allison 4x4 crew cab towing a 31ft Regal cabin cruiser on tri-axle galvanized trailer. The boat dry weighs in at a little over 5 tons, about 11+K lbs with gas, water, etc. The 2500HD with Dmax/Allison is rated at 13K, however, in 2009 the 2500HD hitch was the standard GM hitch put in everything including SUVs. IIRC it was rated for 7.5K or 12K w/WD, pretty woeful for a 3/4 ton pickup. Plus there were more than a few reports of problems/failures with the OE setup. No way I was going to pull this load with this hitch, so I ended up with a Draw-tite class 4 15K hitch.

Here's my other towing rig, Kubota B26. Pretty tight quarters maneuvering the boat around the corner of the house, so I'd back up the boat to the corner with the 2500HD, unhitch, then take it the rest of the way with the B26 using a hitch receiver welded to the quick attach pallet fork attachment.

What's the beam on that baby? 31' long I'd think would be over 8.5' which is all I can tow.

Beam is 8 1/2', exactly the max width allowed under California general rule. I was stopped once by CHP, allegedly to verify width, but he just wanted to check the boat out. He spent about 30min looking it over, asking questions about handling, offshore behavior, et al.

Coming up for the weekend ?
unfortunately not, I just got home but left the tractor up there. It was a quick visit but got a lot done and had a LITTLE time to play.

Been wanting to wait until I finished redoing the wiring and putting on a couple of finishing touches

P&T 18' 7k light duty car hauler with dual axle brakes. Picked it up the other week after some consultation with all of the nice folks on the forum. Trailer itself weighs 2k, leaving about 5000 for whatever I need to haul (the BX, toys for the BX, toys for the kids, toys for dad). It should be more than enough for our needs for a long time to come. The only complaints I have about it are the scotch lock wiring and that it didn't come with oversize width ID lights.

Nice setup.

Chris

Thanks. I got this trailer for less than what I was hoping to get that trailer I showed you that need 4 tires, painted, and maybe a fender. I need to get a WD hitch now.
