New tow rig for me! Found a left over 2015 Ram 2500 crew cab 4x4 Cummins today. It's a Tradesman package with lots of extras. Super happy and got an amazing deal. If anyone's interested they have 2 more just like it (black and cherry red).
How in the world do they still have 2015's on the lot 2 model years later?

I'm curious on what kind of deal you got?

Chris

Dealer out here has several 2015 Superdutys on the lot.

Check,
Yes I built those landscape ramps heavy enough to load my tractor or a vehicle. I've pushed a full size ford can up them with the tractor with no problem.

Really don't know. This is one of the big volume dealers and I think they buy other dealers old units. They had the one I got plus 2 more identical except for color. Sticker price was 51,350. After the negative equity from my F150 (about 8000 worth) the sales price was still just under $40k so I essentially paid right at $32k for just the truck. Right at $20k off the sticker price. And I still get the full 3/36 bumper to bumper and 5/100 powertrain warranties effective yesterday.

Like I said, the '17s are being ordered so they are wanting to deal. If you even think you may be interested now is the time.

That's a smoking deal.

I wonder why you have so much negativity equity in your F150? My 2012 Supercrew FX4 EB has 73,800 miles and I was just offered $27,300. I only paid $36,000 in September of 2011.

Don't really know. Maybe since mine was just an XLT (with leather, 4x4 off road, etc) or maybe it's just the market in this area. Used diesel trucks are selling at or above NADA in this area so maybe it's just market conditions.

Well, it's been about a month with my truck. I have about 2500 miles and have averaged just a bit over 12mpg hand calculated. All mixed driving . Highway on the way to work, some backroads on the way home, and local driving at home. I also towed my first big load today. I have towed much smaller loads with it (<6000lbs) and it has done good. Today I towed one of our CTLs. Total weight of skid steer and trailer was just under 14,000lbs. The truck handled it and stopped it well, but definitely borderline on the power side. Definitely happy with the truck. It gets used on my jobsite every day, and 4x4 every time it rains so it is definitely getting worked, but not abused. Kyle

My new towing rig, 2016 Chevy 2500HD and a 2016 Rollback trailer got a lot of questions and comments on the trailer and any feed back will be appreciated.

Sweet trailer. What's the unloaded weight? What is your truck rated to pull?

/ Your towing rigs and trailers #2,551
according to builder the trailer is 5000 lbs but I have not gotten a chance to weigh it yet. I have mixed numbers on the truck one place I read 18,000 lbs and another place says 14,800 lbs but it is a 2016 Silverado 2500HD with the Duramax and Allison combination.

I bet there is a degree of pucker factor when loading and unloading equipment on that thing.

as soon as I got it we loaded my grandsons van and carried it to the transmission shop it was the easiest I ever load and unloaded a vehicle that was not drivable. He done the steering as I was running the winch and lowered it as soon as the tires cleared the bed. I have not had a chance to load the tractor yet.

You should have s manual, but you should of also received a duramax manual. Numbers are all posted in there. It should be listed as 5th wheel and bumper pull.

I believe I read 14,200 in the book

That's pretty slick but I would strongly consider a pintle hitch setup and 2.5" hitch shank. As far back as the axles are it looks like it would be quite a bit of weight on the truck.

Brett

the trailer is tongue heavy and I pointed that out the first time I saw it, when I brought it up he said to slide the bed back a little if I had it loaded to heavy in the front so on my way home I felt like it was heavy and I slid the bed back about a foot and it pulled like a different trailer. I am considering sliding the axles forward or shortening the tongue.

So max capacity is 9200lbs. That should cover all three of your listed machines. Sounds like a good photo op to me... :)

Some "European perspective" as some have called it, though some would prefer it to be posted in the "towing or hauling something wrong" thread :p

I needed a pair of wheels for my bale trailer, which i couldnt get anywhere because the machinery wreckers in my area sold a truckload full of their used tires to Poland. So i bought an old single axle Claas selfloading hay wagon, built 1983, of which the owner already used the sideboards for something else.
To get this all on my trailer, we cut the axle bolts loose and cut the frame right behind the intake. Because a 3 ton manure spreader weighs 800kg, i estimated this hay wagon would weigh 1500kg.
It turned out to be a little heavier, because the mans small excavator couldnt lift it on the stick, we had to hook the strap around the main boom.
On the highway on-ramps i would lose speed in 5th gear, but otherwise the 2.5 TDI hung in at 1700rpm and 90kmh pretty neat. We got it home safe, with no instability issues at all. Last week i loaded bricks for my BIL, and after getting home i calculated that i had more than a cubic meter of wet concrete on it, which is 5.5-6k pounds net, and probably 7 to 7.5k gross. My guess is that this load was near the same weight.

This was the 2nd heavy load on this trailer after i rebuilt it, which consisted of lengthening it, and making a new V towbar of 2x4 inch tube, from the first axle all the way to the tow ball, lowering it by 5 inches and putting low profile 195/50R13 tires under it. Because this trailer is quite wide, it has the same trackwidth as trucks, so it never wanders in and out of dipped truck lanes.

I will save all the chains and sprockets as well as the heavy angle gearboxes for future use, as well as the cutting blades to use as weld-on wearparts, and maybe use the floor for my manure spreader, which has a rotten floor and a worn out conveyor chain. Then the rest will move on to the scrap trader, which will get me about 15 ct per kg nowadays.

That is quite a load^^^

Growing up few towed with pickups around here... Station Wagons were the tow vehicle for many... 400, 454 and 455 V8 motors and off camping or to the horse show.

My uncle towed his SCCA race cars with a convertible Buick...
