Kubota zd1211
Looking to replace factory zd1211 tires. 26x12-16. Looking for something aggressive for traction. Don’t want to fill the tires for weight because I’m putting bagger on it.
Possibly bar tires but it’s not common size

Thanks

I changed the stock tires on my Ferris IS3200Z out to Maxxis Vipr 26x11x12s a couple of years ago. Same height, plenty aggressive, 6 ply, and also radials; they ride a lot better than the stock bias tires did. Only downside is they can tear up the grass if you turn too aggressively, and they are $$$ for a mower tire. If I recall, they were around $150 per tire at the time, not sure what they are these days though. You won't get stuck or spin much though.

Is it physically possible to go to a 12in wheel so you can run the common 26x12-12 tires? I thought they went to the low profile more for handling reasons, havent looked at one close enough to see if it can fit the smaller wheel.

I went with bar tires and they work, but man you have to be careful or they tear it up. I may look at some of the middle of the road tires in between turf and bar.

Those look like the same rear tires I put on my Toro Titan HD 2000 (60"). The only time I have issues with marking the ground is if it is too wet. Slightly damp to dry and few marks. I made more marks in the yard with the crappy turf tires than I do with the bar tires.

I have to be patient and let the ground dry out a good week if we get more than 2" of rain.

I put 13gals of fluid in each of my turf tires for added traction on my hills & banks.

Still gets stuck in wet places some tho.

No problems with my ZD331 getting traction on hills. Lighter than the newer ones, but extremely powerful. Just cut my big customers place yesterday. Its so steep, they cant find anyone to cut it.
I zip right up and down that hill like it was nothing. Havent had to add weight, and honestly, I dont want to put more stress on things by adding fluid. If I did, it would make deeper ruts when its a little wet.

Its no mystery, its all in the tires and the operator.

I should have stated my steep “banks”

My ZD climbed my hills & banks fine with dry tires but would not get traction easing DOWN my banks forward OR back Up them.

And wet or damp grass was even worse.

The 100lbs per tire solved my problem

Yea it is. But my scag diesel runs circles around this Kubota traction wise. The scag is just planted to ground up or down any hill. The zd will not turn around on an incline without some persuasion on stock tires.

Bringing this back up because I have never seen a direct response to this question. The answer is YES, you can put 12in BX wheels on and then mount 26x12-12 tires on the ZD1211. I just did it, they fit fine and will give you more tire options to mount.

Best of luck!

I have a zd326 and a zd1211. It never occurred to me that they have different tire sizes. I plan to put some more aggressive tires on the 326, so it's good to know that a BX rim will work. I see them for sale on occasion with a tire tread that I could live with.

I found a couple wheel and tire packages on Amazon. I decided to buy the wheel and tire separate as I wanted to make sure I got a quality tire (Carlise). Price was about the same.

Here is what the set up looks like for me. Worth every penny!! No more trips to the briar patch

Also, think the ZD1211 is the one with 16 inch rims. Believe the ZD326 already has 12 inch rims, you only need to mount the tires, not buy new wheels as well....could be wrong as I only have the ZD1211....the 16 inch tires that fit ONLY come in turf tread.

Yes, the 326 has the 12" rims. I didn't realize the 1211 has 16's.
I want to use the 326 on slopes with more aggressive tires, and continue to keep it as a backup mower.

Good afternoon. I’ve been looking at purchasing a zd1211 and currently own a zd323 with bar tires. I am having trouble coming up with tire options for zd1211. I am interested to see if you came up with an option on this.

Put 12” rims on the ZD1211 as mentioned & you’ll have plenty of options for 26” tires.

You are very limited with the stock 16” rim diameter.

I fluid filled my ZD1511 & ZD1611 4cyl turbo 16” Turf tires for traction on steep banks & they work well as long as it’s dry.

This robs a good bit of power tho pulling hills in thick grass on a 3cyl.

Bar tires would chew up my soft ground but everybody’s application is different.
