Thanks - I'll try a few of these things Fri when I get the tractor back out.

BTW, I have an air powered grease gun. It stalls within a pump or two on this fitting. Never stalled it out before....

Having never removed one of these pins before is it simply remove the retainting bolt and drive it out either direction, or is there one way to go or ???

I tried a search for a thread I saw about this once before, and never found it..
But someone here or somewhere else???? had a thread on removing those pins.... the poster mentioned using a pair of floor jacks to raise and lower each side of the bucket to make it easier and not bind up the pins..
I think his arms were not level....
But again I can't remember all the details...

I have a related question about greasing - when I grease some pins, I only see grease flow from one side of the pin. is this ok? or do you need to force grease to flow from both sides of a pin. if so, how do you get it flow from the clogged side?

I've assumed that rotating the pin with use spreads the grease.

The stoppage will be right at the point where the grease exits to flow between the pin and bushing. If you cant get to that area with a wire, try flowing solvent between the pin and bushing to help soften the filter cake that has developed. Or-r ... Pressure washing the junction with the loader resting on the ground [relaxed] might be able to disturb the area remotely, enuf to let the grease force thru w/o the work of removal to clean.

I did manage to refit a slipped pin, back into the joint. By myself, It took a good bit of jacking and raising the bucket and blocking it in the middle. Not very easy to do, really need atool to realign from the inside. JY.

OK, this was easier than all the typing I did asking about it.

I tried shooting penetrating oil in there, but still no luck. I had the bucket off since I was doing my own version of Markham/Gator's in-house on-site warranty repair (don't ask - still annoyed - I'll post that later in Attachments). So I just said screw it and took off the retaining bolt and popped the pin out. Easy as pie. Used a large bolt as a drift and a mallet. The grease chase was so rusted i couldn't see a port for it to flow in through. It had been like this for a long time. A few seconds with a wire brush in the drill found it, drilled out the rust with a small drill bit and cleaned everything up with wire brushes and comp air. Now it takes grease just fine.

The pin does look quite pitted and may be a good candidate for replacement, but it is back in service with actual grease now. Something it hadn't seen in a few years, I bet. Since it was still working OK, this must be an improvement.

End of story.

Job well done. It is great to hear of positive outcomes. Thanks for posting it.

since you will keep it well greased I do not think the pitting will be an issue. Good job.

I recently had the same issue with a zerk on my deck. Took it off and the grease would go through fine. Reinstall, bound up solid. Replace the zerk and all was well. Now the next one is bound up too. 1 year of service and I grease every two mowings. Odd.
