How long have you been a member of TractorByNet.com and what keeps you coming back? I found it through a Google search in August of 2006. I like it here because there is plenty of member involvement and good information on a wide variety of topics.

What type of tractors do you own?
I’ve been operating tractors since 2001 and I own a 2001 John Deere 4200 CUT and a 2005 John Deere L130 lawn tractor.

What do you enjoy most about tractors?
Being able to do things I never could on my own, and doing modifications since it’s probably the closest thing I’ll come to owning a hot rod or something similar.  It allows me to live away from the city.

JD 4200

How often do you use your tractor?
Approximately 70-hours per year. In other words, not often enough.

Tell us about your property.
We currently live on 1.82 acres with a house and attached garage, and own 35.12 acres that we hope to build on.

Tell us about your vehicles.
My daily vehicle is a 1995 Honda Accord coupe that is the best car I’ve ever owned.  My 1999 F-250 Super-Duty is used, but not abused and has a whopping 37,000 miles on it.  My wife has a Honda CRV and she is the one who got me hooked on Honda’s.

What sort of modifications or customization have you done to your tractor?
Too numerous to mention.  View them here: http://picasaweb.google.com/mjncad

What sort of tools, attachments or equipment do you use with your tractor on a regular basis? The loader is my favorite, followed by my rear blade and ballast box.  Now that the heavy weeds are being choked out by native grasses, my rotary cutter doesn’t get used much.  My carryall is the least used implement.  My homemade water buffalo gets used in winter to water trees so I don’t have to drag the hoses around.  My sprayer is least favorite implement.  The worst implement I owned was a 3PH post hole digger.  I traded it in as a sown payment on my L130 lawn tractor.

What do you mainly use your tractor for?
Maintaining and improving the property. Moving rocks and dirt is what I use it for most.

What do you like or dislike about the area you live in?
Relatively close to Denver, the semi-rural lifestyle. I dislike our high property taxes and HOA, which prompted the purchase of the 35 acres.

What sort of terrain, trees, and vegetation is common in your area?

Where we own property there are flat high plains, native weeds & grasses, plus non-native introduced plants.

What’s something most TractorByNet members don’t know about you?
I’m an atypical TBN member as I don’t hunt, fish, camp, or do traditional outdoor activities.  I can’t cook to save my life.  I like science fiction, science, and TV shows about how things are made.  I listen to 40’s – 60’s jazz.  Also sports bore me to tears.
