1715 Ford
Great Purchase
Model Year: 1994

I bought this little tractor and a 5-foot bushhog from a neighbor whose late husband was the original owner. It has been well maintained and kept out of the weather. It has all the power I need and I gave only 5,000 for both.

Pros: Always starts, comfortable seat
Cons: Wish it had power steering

1715 Ford
Good Little Tike
Model Year: 1995

Overall the tractor seems to be good. As another reviewer noted, I have knocked the clutch sensor off in the middle of the blackberries. Mows (4 foot brush hog) and tills (4 ft tiller) quite well, although must run the Howard tiller at high engine RPMs to be effective. My biggest problem is that it seems to collect moisture in the clutch, which then locks up the clutch. It is also a fairly tall and narrow tractor, and may not be the best for hillside use.

Pros: Good small tractor. Good power for 20-30 hp range.
Cons: Clutch sticking. Tall and narrow. 540 RPM at PTO is at full throttle.

1715 Ford
Parts
Model Year: 1994

The model 1715 Ford is a great asset to the farm. Problem is finding affordable parts. Overall the dealer Charles S. Snyder in Tamaqua, PA is a a good dealer. Tries their best to get parts in and keep on shelf for this model. Basically, I think it's the manufacturer that didn't keep on top of this model for parts. But if you have used this little tractor you know its a worthy mention.

Pros: Manuverability and reliability.
Cons: Pins for attachments extremely breakable.

Good Basic Tractor
Model Year: 0

Real good tractor, with plenty of power, it performs like a bigger tractor. It's pretty basic and easy to work on. Gets the job down without a lot of hassle. If you don't like the muffler pointing upwards, you can unbolt and rotate it 180 degrees to keep it from getting knocked off in heavy brush.

Pros: Cheap, Basic, Reliable.
Cons: The wiring for the clutch safety switch frequently gets hung on brush and unplugged, (located under left floor board). I wish this tractor had a bit more weight to it.

1715 Ford
1996 Ford (NH) 1715
Model Year: 1996

I bought this tractor when we bought our property. I had been looking for a used 4x4, diesel, loader, compact tractor. They are hard to come by around here. Most are either well used up, or 1 year old. I came across this one at a local dealer, and bought it on the spot for $7500. At the time it had 400 hours on it, came with a brand new Woods back blade. In the next several years, I built a pole barn and a house, and used this tractor every single day for 3 years. Many jobs it wasn't meant to do (backfilling an entire house, spread 14" of bank run gravel on 1100' of driveway, brush hogged close to 40 acres a few times, etc. It never once gave me a lick of trouble. I would still have it, other than I wanted something I could put a mid mount mower on to mow about 4 acres. We sold the 1715 and a JD 425, to purchase a JD 3120. All and all, I would buy another 1715 with no qualms. It's built like tractors should be, not like many that are made today. Should mention that the New Holland TC30 and the new version (can't think of the number) are the same exact tractor as the 1715 - right down to part interchangeability.

Pros: Solid, reliable, well built, no fancy electronics.
Cons: None, it does exactly what it is supposed to.

1715 Ford
Ford (new holand) 1715 tractor
Model Year: 1987

This compact tractor thinks it is a big tractor, especially when its in 4-wheel drive. I have an antique scrapper blade, that is built for a 60's model 8N, that this little 1715 handles just fine. Yes, you can feel the weight on the back, but still this 1715 handles the load. We also have a heavy duty 60's model bush hog, and a newer 5ft finishing mower. The tractor handles each of these with no problem. I haven't had any issues, other than a clutch replacement, but it was pretty much used up when we purchased the tractor. I have a 5 acre yard / field that I keep cut. Thanks to the tractors power steering, I can easily cut around all the trees & bushes without a problem. Probably the perfect size tractor for this application. We have had no other mechanical issue. I usually charge the battery and change the oil every spring. That's about all this tractor ever gets. The little Shibaura 3-cyl diesel has run flawless.

Pros: Strong, reliable tractor
Cons: no front-end loader.
