Owning an Antique
Model Year: 0
Owning something that is 60+ years old means that you are going to be doing a fair amount of maintenance. Mostly I spent a fair number of weekends resetting the entropy clock on the Ford. It came with a loader that I didn't need so I deleted that option. The radiator was clogged with dirt and the power steering pump marginal. A previous owner(s) had cobbled various repairs and enhancements which I modified/corrected/deleted. I change the fluids replaced missing bolts and brackets cleaned the radiator, cleaned the carburetor, filed the points, replaced the battery, new brushes for the generator, replaced the wiring, and assorted other things. Not all at once but in the beginning on over the years. The main thing it lacks is a live PTO. When bush hogging sage brush this is sorely missed. Other than that it has performed as advertised. It is just old and tired like its owner. We actually own the IH 354 and the IH 270A backhoe
Pros: Does nearly everything I ask of it.
Cons: Lack a live PTO.
