LS U5030
Model Year: 2013
I purchased this at the end of September 2013 after much research and comparison among all brands. I have had a Kubota B7800 since 2001 and have had few problems. I purchased 40 acres that joined me this year and found myself needing a larger tractor to cut and bale this new acreage. I looked at Kubota first, since I was familiar with their product and had a dealer close by. However, their pricing for what I wanted wasn't compatible with what I wanted to spend. After looking at Deere, New Holland and Mahindra, I came across a gentleman who owned an LS tractor. He has had it for a couple of years and was using it for many of the same tasks that I would be using a tractor for. After reading everything I could get my hands on regarding these "unknown" tractors, I went to the closest dealer to me (about 30 miles away) and took a closer look at them. The dealer did not have the model in stock that I wanted (the U5030), but his other models gave me the things I wanted to look at- motor, build, fit and finish, platform layout, rear hydraulic set-up, loader. After talking to him and getting a price for the U5030, I continued researching and pondering on it. I eventually decided that for what I wanted to spend ($25,000-$30,000), the LS was going to give me the best bang for the buck. I eventually purchased from Scott Holland at RCO Tractor in Greenville, TX, even though they were a 4 hour drive one way from home. They made me a good deal and were good to work with. I have been thoroughly pleased with my tractor. I cut, raked and baled 30+ acres within two weeks of picking up the tractor in addition to moving about 100 4X5's from a location that I had previously stored them. The tractor has plenty of power to pull my 8' disc mower and Vermeer Rebel String baler. The loader handled the bales easily and the rear lift arms with my trailer mover moved the 24' gooseneck with 14 bales with ease. I put a hydraulic top link on along with hooks and a receiver hitch on the bucket.
Pros: Value for price, motor, dependability, rear hydraulics already on unit, heavy built.
Cons: No tool box.
