3316 Mahindra
Mahindra 3316G
Model Year: 2010

Brand new tractor and my first, so just a few initial observations: 1. Everything works well on the tractor. That may speak as much to the dealer as to the manufacturer. My impression is they went through everything before delivery. Everything was well adjusted when delivered. 2. Gave 4 stars for build quality as some of the body panels don't exactly align, but it is not a car. Nothing that prevents smooth operation. 3. Tractor was expensive, more money than I had planned to spend, but it is also much more tractor than I planned to get. I expect it will hold its value very well. 4. I have moved a lot of stuff with the loader, mostly brush, some dirt, etc. Works well and smooth. 5. My first attempt at mowing was not good with the FEL on. However, Mahindra's FEL parking system is great. Someone told me it would take 5 minutes to get the loader off, but I think more like 2. Put on the parking stand, pull two large pins, tweak the hydraulics to pop the loader off the brackets, pull 4 hydraulic hoses, back away. putting it back on is easy too, just pull up, hook up hydraulics, a couple of tweaks of the cylinders and it pops into place. Mowing is much easier, but I will probably weight the front end because my front tires slip a little bit going around corners. 6. Unfortunately, our soil is such soft sand that I am leaving ruts when mowing. Not such a problem in the lawn/yard as it is more solid, but out in the front field (which I would like to have look nice), the tractor and the finish mower wheels leave ruts. I am trying to work out techniques to minimize turns (removing trees, etc). Overall I am very happy. Montyhp

Pros: Power, Flawless operation, etc.
Cons: Heavy for my soil.

3316 Mahindra
Mahindra 3316 HST after +50hrs usage
Model Year: 2010

First, I'm not sure it is a 2010. It is always easier to pick on what you don't like after one has used something so I hope I don't come across as too negative. Generally I like the tractor and it has performed well for me; however, at this point I wonder if I should have done more shopping. I primarily purchased Mahindra because of seat time on three other models belonging to my son-in-law and brother-in-law (2810, 3510, & 4530) and the convenient location of the dealer. None were HST so the 3316 is my first experience with the HST; the HST was recommended by one the guys at my work who has nothing but good things to say about his 3015 HST. As I have previously posted I was surprised that there was no horn and that the headlamps are low beam only; there are no brake lamps either. The tractor does have turn signals and 4-way flashers for the rear fender lamps only; there are no turn lamps in front headlamp cowling. Doesn't come with a rear work lamp but there is a taped up connector (IIRC) for same. The hood is not metal; it is some thick plastic material. The fenders are metal with plastic extensions on same. The seat is hinged at the front with the rear resting on two springs. The seat is the worst thing about this tractor in my opinion. There is no tool box on the tractor. With initial use I found myself in many situations that the wheel(s) did not have traction (yes, I was in MFD or 4WD). I had the rear tires (which are industrial tread on my tractor) filled with RV anti-freeze by a tire shop (30gal/tire). This helped. I bought a 'big boy' seat off of E-BAY; I had asked my dealer to check on the Mahindra suspension seat but I'm still waiting on that reply. The 'big boy' seat was too big and would not fit. Went to TS and bought the $100 Iowa brand suspension seat like I have on my Dexta; made a couple of brackets to mount it; and it works very nice. Did I mention that the original seat belt is not retractable; it was always falling down the rear hydraulic lever opening, etc. I have a retractable seatbelt now but have yet to fabricate my brackets and mount same. The suspension seat is much kinder to my back and makes it much more pleasurable to operate the tractor. I purchased and had installed by my dealer a grapple and the optional rear auxiliary hydraulics to control the grapple. I love the grapple and the use of the rear hydraulics for control is working fine. The workmanship by the dealer service left much to be desired. I may purchase an electric valve and mount a rocker switch on the FEL joy stick; or not! My FEL has the skid steer quick detach for the bucket or grapple; this was a must at tractor purchase time. I plan to purchase forks next. I brush hog with a 5 ft deck; run the tractor in mid range and the engine RPM for 540 RPM PTO; most mowing is with the fwd speed at max in this range while mowing. Fuel economy is worse with this tractor than the Dexta (but this tractor doesn't grunt when the going gets tought!). Last two tanks of fuel... BTW the first refill I ran it down below the red on the fuel guage. It took 4.752 gallons for 5.2 hours on the hour meter; or .914 gal/hr. Next tank 4.891 gallons for 4.9 hours; or .999 gal/hr. Combined 9.643 gal for 10.1 hours; or .955 gal/hr. The tank is rated 7.1 gallons per the manual. The screen in front of the radiator is easy to remove and clean; make sure the engine is stopped first so the stuff doesn't get sucked off of the screen as you remove it:( I have taken the tractor on the road twice to the carwash a 1/2 mile away to clean the hydraulic fluid from leaks created by the fine workmanship of the grapple installer. I have since fixed those leaks. GPS indicated speed in High range and engine speed and FWD speed maximum was 11 MPH level ground and uphill; and 12 MPH downhill. I still need to install my rear lamp; have held off as still considering the hard canopy to which I could add forward and rear lamps. Problem with canopy is low trees when I am brush hogging. Haven't made up my mind. I plan to install some sort of tool box on elevated portion behind seat; I may have to space the SMV triangle out if I put it there. I also need to install a drink holder but so far my plastic water bottle rests sideways between FEL joystick and fender w/o falling off. The fuel tank filler is in opening in the hood in front of instrument cluster; I finally have a system to fill same w/o spilling on the hood with one of the new environmental friendly cans; but it is slow. I will probably add a horn; how depends on if I go with the hard canopy. I rate features a 3 because of lack of horn, no brake lamps, not standard with rear aux hydraulics; no high beams, no rear work lamp, seat belt not retractable, and it should have a suspension seat. I rate value a 4 because there is too much plastic. My dealer experience at purchase was a 5; but currently is a 3 after the grapple experience and I'm still waiting on return phone calls...

Pros: 16 Series are manufactured by Mitsubishi; turbo engine
Cons: Lack of suspension seat

This tractor has been great so far. Absolutely no problems so far. The four wheel drive makes a big difference in the use of the front loader. i had to add a tool box because I just could not get by without a place to put a few tools and pins.

Pros: Plenty of power.
Cons: Hydraulic controls not smooth, may improve with use.

3316 Mahindra
3316 gear review
Model Year: 2010

The 3316 is a pretty red. It seems to have enough power for my needs. It articulating steering is a real plus when skidding logs to my sawmill from deep in the woods. I prefer the shuttle shift over hydrostatic drive, it gives me a feeling of control. I have had a problem with the loader mount bolts backing out but a little Locktite solved the problem. Also the bolts on the right side front drive were all lose. It seems there was not much thought given to were the exhaust exits it blows in your face, not very pleasent.

Pros: Easy access on and off, articulating steering, power, comfort, looks, & the dealer is close.
Cons: Lose bolts and the exhaust.

Review Update
Model Year: 2010

So after 1 year and at 40 hours, machine has been flawless. Biggest problem I had is I buried it up to the axles on both ends (try doing that!) while mowing around the fire department sign. Had to have a fire truck pull me out (regular 3/4 ton pick up wouldn't budge it). Mows great, loader works great. Wish I had a box blade and a rock rake. Montyhp

Pros: Works great.
Cons: Really none, maybe price.

3316 4WD (Gear)
Model Year: 2009

Overall, I have been extremely pleased with the 3316. It is attractive, well made, robust and reliable. The FEL has stood up well despite significant abuse with bucket (digging, dozing, etc.), grapple (loading heavy trees on to my saw mill) or Fork attachment. Skid steer attachment makes it very easy switching between all three - aside from the third function hydraulics QDs for the grapple which are always a trial. Some mildly irritating design points... nowhere to put pins where they won't vibrate off when changing 3-point hitch attachments, constantly hitting the turn signal with my knee when reversing, lacks simple things like cup holder, toolbox, etc, (both of which I have now added). From a performance perspective, it has good power, maneuverability and fuel economy. Maintenance is straightforward. Main drawbacks are lack of traction (wheel spin) on irregular terrain, the 3-point hitch is difficult to raise or lower smoothly or consistently (makes the post-hole digger harder work than it need be, for example), Dealer experience has been very positive so far

Pros: Overall design, performance, build quality.
Cons: Lack of user features, 3-point hitch control.

Nice Tractor
Model Year: 2011

After having this tractor for such a short time it is a bit early for me to properly rate this machine. I have used my brush hog and post-hole digger and will use the box blade soon. So far so good.

Pros: So far all good.
Cons: None.

Model Year: 2011

One complaint to date: after 40 hrs or so there was an oil leak showing up on the rubber floor mat. This was traced back to the power steering unit and has gotten worse with oil dripping when parked and making the mat and pedals slippery. Waiting for dealer to find a seal kit or other solution.

Pros: Reliable, good size for my needs.
Cons: Only con to date would be the small hydraulic leak.

Not too many frills but solidly built, very sturdy and, at 33 hp, a seriously useful machine.

Pros: Build quality, strength and power, compact size, value for money.
Cons: No frills, 3pt hitch control a little "sticky".
