Simply place the machines are side by side; you will quickly see that the BX22 and BX23 are built stronger than the BX24 and BX25. Your eye will see noticeable differences in the gauge of the steel and the size of several parts on the FEL and BH. You can also ask your Kubota dealer how many cracked plastic body parts and defective instrument clusters he has had to replace on the more recent models. Very little warranty work was required on the earlier models.

Congrats on negotiating a free the 3P.

I HAD a BX22 and now a 24...Plastic hood and fendors do not define better built. Funny I had more issue with gas ind, leaky hyd, hood rattle on my Bx22. ZERO issues on my BX24...

Man, you guys make me and bx23 feel antiquated. But nice looking Bota.

You shoulden't feel like that.

I just don't like the BX24 and BX25 near as well as I like my BX23.
No way in the worldwould would I trade the BX23 for either one of them.

Your experience would seem to be atypical. Out of curiosity, how many hours did you put on your BX22 vs your BX24?

over 300 on Bx22 and over 100 on 24. And and the 22 issues happened from 0 to 100.

How does a plastic hood and fendor effect the usage? They as cosmetic and means very little on engine and performance.YMMV
The FEL and BH looks same thickness of steel and so does the frame.

I had the same seat issue with both. The FEL is better on the 24 and the BH on the 24 is better.

...your BX23 is built much stronger than the BX24 or BX25.
I don't know if that is a fair statement. I believe the "funamental" tractor has very few changes. The frame is essentially the same. Sure one is plastic and the other is metal, but "stronger" means one is "weaker".

I don't think the BX24/25 is "weaker" at all. There was a fundamental change in the technology included in the machine and it turned out to bite Kubota in the butt.

Though the warranty work was much higher than normal on the newer generation of tractor, Kubota stepped up to the plate on everything.

Darn shame they had to stub their toe, but they're straight now and the new machines are great. If they weren't pushing the envelope, the BX series may not have ever existed in the first place!!!

Not to say I'm trading in my BX2230 anytime soon. I LOVE my rig...

If you read my original observation, you saw that I did not refer to the engine or performance, but rather to "build". It is important to have the current and previous models side by side to appreciate the actual differences in "build", which are not obvious otherwise. The next time I have my BX24 next to a BX22 or BX23, I will take photos and post them here; it will illustrate how my earlier BX22 and BX23 tractors were somewhat "overbuilt" in contrast to my current BX24. Another way to examine the evolution of "build" over the years is to place the 22BX and 23BX mowers side by side, and compare all the parts. I have already done this and you can probably guess what I observed. However, I will invite another member to make that comparison, and post his independent observations on any differences in "build".

...but "stronger" means one is "weaker"... QUOTE]

Keith, your point is well taken. The BX24 is not actually weaker than the BX22 or BX23. It might be fairer to say that the BX22 and BX23 were somewhat "overbuilt" in comparison to the BX24. It would seem that my comments about my BX24 may have been momentarily clouded by such things as the plastic fenders and step/deck that cracked under stress, the plastic handles that fell off during use, and the dash cluster that failed when exposed to rain, etc ...

What a minute. Define "build" and now "looks" define a lesser design? Again I HAD a 22 and now a 24 and I would take a 24 over a 22; hence why I sold a 22. Having a metal hood does not define over built too.

I had a 54 mower and now a 60...The 60 is way better built. I think the hyd system on the 22 was junk.

There are plastic that are stronger then metal. I will take a non-rusting, non yieldable metal over the older 22 model anyday. But that is me.

By the way, the BXC22 HAD plastic handles too and the guages on the 22 are just like the 24. In fact my 22 had the "grey plastic fall off right after use too.
