Dargo,
All I can say is have faith. Americans can turn this C%$p around. If anyone we can, we can! Heck every other country is making money from us.

I read that in Time Mag. that China's steel mills are slowed or closed. Being that scrap steel is down and the slowing ecomony if you had money, this maybe the time to pounce to get a company started or on it's feet.

;1526626Yup, At least it is here.

After xmas the bills come in and after that property taxes bill comes. No one here from the 1st till February's end is browsing the lots.

That's what I have found, too. Never got better deals in my life on big ticket items like cars or equipment than between Christmas & New Years holidays. The problem for the dealerships is that everyone is tapped-out from Christmas!!! Me included!

Big three went on Captial hill again today... Flew in on corp and and other jets... wisked away in limos... we are too broke to survive... Yea,

I'm thinking of WIC... Maybe I should not apply with my limo outside! I think bribs are going going on now... Think third world... Much of the 700 Billion is going missing!

I can't believe what went to AIG compared to what is not likely to go the big-3.

Way more jobs at stake.

My guess would be Chrysler will take a bullet (or maybe be acquired by Nissan/Renault)

Nissan/Renault would not be a bad idea financially. Nissan dug it's way out years ago. American ideologically.......no. Nissan motor corporation was actually some what a good buy when they were hurting badly. Their R&D department was larger than all the other auto manufacturers combined!

We own two Nissans. One is a 01 Xterra and a 98 Maxima. Nissan build 8 models in TN. Drivetrain in the Xterra is Dana believe it or not!

Interesting story behind the Xterra though. Nissan of North America went to corporate in Japan and asked for funding for R&D and production, They said no. Funding came through NOS parts and the Xterra was built. They do build a 4 cyl turbo Xterra in TN I am told, but exported to South American.

At the rate the last month has been progressing, my retirement age is quickly moving closer to 140. Which, unfortunately, has the effect of making me rather unhappy. :(

If this turns out bad A123 Systems IPO Rumored For September | Hidden Buzz Magazine by this time next year, I'll have to learn to say "do you want fries with that burger?"

and theyæ±*e working with General Motors on the Chevy Volt Electric car.

I think the Chevy Volt is a much better hybrid than the prius is. The volt is capable of running 40 miles round trip on electric. The volt can be plugged in. The prius no! That is aftermarket add-on!

If you want to test rechargable batteries/cells get RC racers to test them. The things we did to them was beyond any engineers test-bed. I use to do a 30 amp dump, put a dead short on them, and throw them in the freezer. Lit c ells you can't abuse them though.

That would be them. They also make the newer batteries for companies like DeWalt. But, don't forget, if I think they are a stock to buy at their IPO, they'll immediately tank!

But, yes, I think we will see some pure electric cars in the not so distant future. Battery technology just needs to keep increasing to make it happen. On a odd note, tow truck drivers absolutely HATE hybrid vehicles and the upcoming all electric vehicles. If they go to hook one up to tow that has been wrecked there is a real reason for them to fear electrocution. As one tow truck driver told me "If them thar battries have enuf juce ta power the car all by themselfs, then they gots enuf juce ta knock the livin tar outta ya! Sumbody could get seriously killed if they aint too careful!!"

This car is a joke. Come on, 45K for a electric car. Just buy a 15K Kia or Civic and get 35-40 MPG and save your 30K for beer and gas.
