Wow, that thing looks great. My hat is off to you sir. If I undertook a project that big, I'd probably wind up single again.
I didn't take the time to read through all of the info here, but I did want to share in case you didn't realize, but on your tractor if you are n 4wd and since you have 2 different size tires, unless you changed gear ratio's in your front or rear diff to occomdate the different axle speeds you are going to bind up your driveline and start to break things.

In the previous page the author noted testing with the taller rear gears so I suspect he plans to replace the rear. I think Samurai's came with 3:73s or 3.90s and the aftermarket has a 4.56? Nice thing about the samura removable third member is ease of repair. An aftermarket 4:1 gears for the transfercase would make it a stump puller. This tractor if the drivetrain is stock would go 90KMPH so might want to lock out the high range.

Theres is also 5.12's from the front of manual sidekicks. Although discontinued I think there were 5.83's as well. Quite weak though. 6:1 t-case gears are also available.

Can't recall ever hearing a problem with the 5.38's.
A little up date.
I have installed the new, lower ring and pinion gears in the rear axle.
The test drive dident yeald the slow down I had hoped for, but I think it will be ok. It moves at what I call a slow walk, at engine idle.
Sorry no pics, the wife and son have the camera with them, in Arazona on vacation.

a face like this when the wife and kids are gone on valentine's day and you get unlimited time in the garage!i dropped big jack on mine tonight....most expensive steak in the county and we've got a whole freezer full!!!........maybe it'll pay off
