That's one heck of a deal for a trailer like that in the northeast area. I agree with the others the axles look to be 5200# units. If you decide you're not happy with it or its not heavy enough contact me and I'll take it off your hands. Definitely a good buy.

Thanks for the offer, thought if I wasn't happy it wouldn't be to hard to sell except most buyers would be looking for a full 5 ton I would think.

I was really surprised at how much my 12K MM pulls down while pulling a vehicle up my deck over. Granted its a much steeper rise but I would have thought it would do it with ease. Makes me think anything less wouldn't be up to the task.

This winch is real cheesy, only 2 k, unrolled the whole cable and it sounded sick just pulling it back in with me holding back on it so it would coil up nice on the spool.

I will try to answer your questions. The center pin of a 7 Round is for the reverse lights 99% of time. The 12 Volt positive is at the 1 O-clock position and the ground is at the 7 O-clock position as you look at the plug. Here is a perfect example of where my tester on the other thread would sort things out in 10 seconds. Most trucks will not supply the 12 Volt to the plug without the truck running or the key on to prevent running the battery down on the truck.

Easy way to remember is the center is Reverse. 1 O-clock is 12V and opposite that at 7 O-clock is Ground. 3 & 9 O-clock are the respective turn signals. 5 O-clock is Brakes and opposite that at 11 O-clock is the Tail/Running lights.

This is all as you look at the face of the plug.

Here is pic from the backside of the trailer plug. The wire colors may not match. It list both the truck and trailer side so read carefully.

I went trailer shopping in Phoenix, AZ this week and ended up buying a Big Tex brand. I got a 18 foot 14k unit that was listed at $5200 FOR $3700. It also had an adjustable tounge. I'm happy.

Do you know if the reg 7 pin wiring provides power for reverse lights?
The guy put a couple lights on the fenders that he said go on when in reverse, I see an extra wire he has going into the plug but the lights didn't go on when I had my truck in reverse. I haven't even poked around on the thing yet, so maybe I'll figure it out.

Also is there a hot wire in the 7 pin configuration even when no lights or brakes are on? cause that's how the winch worked but it wouldn't work when I unplugged the trailer harness, is the power always on for the break away system? and the trailer battery is just for a complete separation of truck and trailer?

In most cases the center wire of the plug has to be manually wired to your trucks backup light circuit in order for the installed backup lights on the trailer to work.

As Diamondpilot said some trucks are prewired to provide a hot lead to the trailer plug which you have in your case. It is mainly to supply a hot lead to the trailer which can be used to charge a trailer mounted battery for use with a winch or other 12V device on the trailer.

As long as the trailer has a battery it should be wired through the breakaway switch in case it should become disconnected from the truck. The breakaway cable (the end connected to your truck) would pull out of the breakaway switch which would apply the trailer brakes.

For your winch you can buy a longer roll of cable and replace the short cable you have then get the snatch block which will allow your winch to work easier pulling up a heavy load.

Good deal, Dude.

I have a 18 ft HD car hauler with diamond plate floor and fenders with a "half" dovetail rated for 10,000 lbs. It is barely big enough for my 39HP Kubota with FEL and brush hog (overhangs rear a couple feet.)

Good trailer source => holttrailers.com

I have seen several folks leaving there driving 3500 Ram wtih Cummins diesels towing a new gooseneck trailer with 5-6 more trailers atop it. I have seen this many times (not always the same trucks.) Not sure where they take them but was told this trailer manufacturer has the best for the price and folks come to take them to places where the prices are signicicantly higher.

I have bought three trailers from them and think I get excellent quality for the price. Never a malfunction.

Yeah sounds like a good deal, I've seen Big Tex they do look HD, it's twice as heavy as mine. I also wanted an adjustable coupler, I've seen some that were fixed and didn't like them, seems like a necessity to be able to adjust for height. my flat bed and my dump both have the channel iron style where the coupler can slide up or down and be bolted where desired.

A little tricky finding a parking space with this long set up.

I really like those adjustable height tongues. I have one on a dump trailer. I also have adjustable height hitches that are way easier to adjust as they are attached with two hitch pins and can be raised and lowered in a few seconds. Great for my non-adjustable tongue trailers.

With the adjustable hitch I can crank down the dolly wheel on the trailer tongue to take the weight, chock the trailer wheels and adjust the height of the tongue while still plugged in, safety chains and breakaway wire attached. It is handy for adjusting the height of the dovetail, slope of the ramps for loading/unloading equipment or stock if using the stock trailer and then adjusting for proper clearance or level ride for highway transit.

I like having the adjustable height hitch. I bought one that has 3 different size hitch balls and can adjust it up or down for any trailer I want to hook up to. Don't have to worry about the trailer hitch height with an adjustable hitch on the truck.

Looks like that's what I'll have to do, checked the center pin on the socket with truck in reverse and key on and had no power.

I'll have to figure out how to get a connection to the center pin, is there a blade to slide a connector on to?

You might check some of the other recent posts. I recollect a couple of them talking about a fuse that had to be installed to get a hot lead connected.
