Junk Deere 2520 and 62d falling apart

I got the tractor back last night. Parked it in the garage and have not looked at it. Was at the dealer yesterday just killing time before I went to work. Found out that the replacement arm came in 8-12. They did not know this as the parts dept did not tell anyone . They also told me that they only wanted to trade up to the 2720. If I want anything else (zero turn mower) it would be an even trade.

If I knew of a place to sell the tractor I would do it.

Man I am so glad I have a good dealer.

Have you contact John Deere directly?

I wont say my dealer is bad but its not good. I feel that the people working on it need to have more training or ???????

If I am thinking wrong let me know. The deck and loader was installed by the dealership. The person that worked on it is no longer working there, they had "problems" with him and his work. All they have done is replace the missing-bent parts. They have not tried to find why it had problems in the first place.

I think they should try to find the cause of the problem not just replace the missing pins and change the quick attach pins to regular pins and spring clips. It seems to me they are trying to wait the warranty out and it will be my problem .

I have printed out several pages of illistrations of the mid mount lift from the JD Parts web site. I am going to remove all of the parts and compare it to the schematics and see if something is missing or installed incorrect.

No I have not yet contacted JD about this problem but probably will if I do not sell it.

The springs should be on the inside of the mower mounts. Mine hold tension and I have never had a problem with them coming loose or partially shifting out. The mmm is a good unit and I like the versitility of using the tractor for other details. A zero turn has one purpose... just cutting grass.

I just finished mowing my neighbors yard. It took about 30 minutes and I did notice that deck now moves around, did not do that before, it was like it was solid mounted.

The tractor and deck originally had the quick detach pins but after problems of coming out the dealer changed them to the pin and circle clips. The hydraulic lift cylinder was changed to put the hoses inside.

Hoping it is fixed now. If I have any more problems I am going to contact JD directly.

Here is an update. Have mowed with the tractor and used the FEL. The deck has not fell out yet. It sure does move around lots now, I guess that is normal.

The nut that goes on the ignition switch came loose. When I removed the key the nut fell off and the ignition switch fell behind the dash . I fixed that myself.

Installed the springs under the seat, that is a major improvement!!! Rides almost like a new Caddy :D

I had this problem yesterday. I found that there is a plastic piece that slides over this retainer with a spring. The plastic piece is flat on one end like a washer to keep the spring keeping tension on the clip for the deck. My plastic had broken and the spring worked it's way into the section for the lift arms like a note book binder comes out. If the deck is not off it would not be noticeable.
I do not have a manual for the mower deck so I do not know the exact name for the part. 47 chevy posted a pic on 8/17/08 that shows the pin.

Another update 05/29/2009

The pins that were replaced with bolts are still doing good. Now the 2 quick release J pins on the deck was replaced with pins and circle-ring clips has come out.

Here is the right side, lost the left side....

I could but it would be a pain to remove the deck. I am worried if everything is bolted together that it is putting a bind on something else and it will break.

The tractor is out of warranty soon. This fix and any repairs is out of my pocket.

Don't have to bolt them tight - use them like a pin.

I had a 2210 with the 62D deck and i didn't have any problems except the time I ran over something and twisted the height adjustment.

It might be time to start writing letters to JD before it is out of warranty.

If your terrain is so rough - perhaps you should consider a rear finishing mower.
