Perhaps some of them, like me, can afford to pay BIG BUCKS because we routinely save every penny we can when we can. If I buy an item that is identical to another item I want to pay an identical, or better price. Perhaps one of the more frequent expenses is fuel. Driving in my area along Franconia road diesel prices vary by as much as 30 cents/gallon within two miles, all the same cetane. To fill up my van that's a potential $12 difference.
Now back to SUDT/ODT - Northern tools also carries a fluid.
Mag1 universal tractor hydraulic fluid, it says it's rated for most of the common SCUT's including JC20 and Kubota. It's $43/5 gallons.
To me one of the important things is what's in your area. I bought Kubota SUDT from Messicks because I needed it NOW. I couldn't find any oil on my dipstick, it took a little over half a quart. So now I have about 4.8 gallons that I paid $20 shipping on.
If I could have driven to my closest TSC it would have cost me well over $20 in driving, not to mention the time and hassle.

I recently bought some Costal Multi-Track Universal tractor fluid. It is sold at Advanced auto parts and Auto Zone. It is supposed to be a high grade universal tractor fluid. As I recall it was about $48. I use it in one of my tractors which the manufacture of does not label their own lubrication products, so I searched for a very good oil at a reasonable price.
I will tell you though that I buy New Holland lubes for my New Holland, IH for my IH, etc.
One thing is for sure, you do not want to mix oils. I have 4 five gallon pale pumps for the different products. Pain, I know, but I have given up on one that should be use it all of my machines. Hmm, I guess I could trade or sell everything and buy all one brand equipment...

It would but even if we knew it may be meaningless. It could be spec'd with different properties than anything else made by that manufacturer.

Uh not exactly- it is made by Ashland.
Ashland does make Valvoline but they also make 76, Doosan, Quality, AutoPride, CarQuest, MileMaster, and apparently- Kubota tractor fluids.
IOW one really can't draw any conclusions as to properties or quality since Ashland makes so many different brands.
They may ALL be identical but it is hard to know for sure...

Around here they are one in the same...the plant is just a few miles upriver. And I never said they were "identical".....I just said who made it is all.
These brands..(76, Doosan, Quality, AutoPride, CarQuest, MileMaster,) arent even for sale around here.
