x500 +snowblower or 2035 with FEL or?

Baucom: thanks for the thoughts. The X700 is quite a unit, but the price is so close to a 2305 that I thought perhaps the 3pt hitch on the 2305 would be a better choice for pulling felled trees etc. Bad knees prevent the walk behind mower, so perhaps a fleet deal is in the works. Thanks
Dan
The x700 is only a garden tractor but the 2305 is a step up into the sub compact field.

Guys: your responses seem to focus on the lawn, and there is not that much to mow. Need the focus to be on getting control of a property left untended for a couple of years, and the snow removal issue. Winters in Nova Scotia can be brutal, all those storms coming up the eastern seaboard ya know. Having never worked with either unit, its a big decision. A snow blower seems to be a specific item, where as the loader could do the same thing and more. 1*But, **** the price diference is double between the X500 and the 2305.
1* But you are comparing a lawn tractor to a sub compact.

Smart move with two machines but I would buy a walk behind before I would by a LT with a with a 38" deck, too much left to trim. Actually by the sounds of things I would buy a Home Depot LT special. Buy the 2305 with FEL clean up the area so it can be mowed with a bigger deck and then get the mower deck for the 2305.

Let's not forget the resale value of the HD special in a year or two.

Let me ask you then, which do use more, blade or bucket to move snow around?

Without a doubt, the blade. Tried the FEL bucket 20 some years ago and that just isn't happening. As I read in this forum people do use the FEL and say it works well I think that is BS. Would the FEL win over a snow shovel? Yeah, but not by much. We get a substantial amount of snow here but I'm guessing you see a lot more. The way it sounds you need a tractor with at least a FEL and probably other attachments. The question is the mowing. I will tell you, again by the sounds of things, Get the tractor and FEL. Don't do what most have done, including me, by getting the tools you really need after the fact. The resale on a tractor such as the JD2305 is really good. You could probably do all your work and then sell it and still come out money ahead. Doubt you would sell it but it is an option. These tractors could almost be considered and investment.

I would get 1 tractor with a MMM. Only one to maintain, and they are nimble, and way more comfortable than a lawn mower. Gte a snow blower and you are off to the races.

It sounds to me like you would be best served by a small lawn tractor, one that would cost perhaps less than the mower deck for a sub cut, and then a Scut like the JD 2305, Kutota BX series, or Massey CG2400. The Scuts are heavy, and strong enough to get your acre in shape, create your paths, and have the traction for moving snow. I think a snowblower is the way to move snow, but I have done it with the loader on both the BX I had, and my current "B". The larger garden tractors like the JD X700 series, and the Simplicity Legacy XL series would probably work too, but they are the same price as the Scuts, don't have strong hydraulics, and don't hold their value as well. Once you have everything the way you want it, you may find that something like the JD X500 series would be fine for maintaining it, but I think snow would still be an issue, and I think you will really like the Scut by then! :D :D

GuYs: well, I've gone and done it. Bought a 2305 with FEL, MMM (54") and Imatch. What a relief, but as I read somewhere else on TBN get ready for buyers remorse. Once all the "bs" is over, I'll get down to some serious practise on the yard. Yippeee...:D I will post some pics as soon as it gets here later in the week. You know I've blamed all of you in conversations with the boss. Thanks for all the help!:D
