Your kidding right? IF this guy is legal and you start pulling stunts like this (ie: flying RC airplanes near an airport, or balloons to block their flightpath) youll be the one dealing with the FAA. They take this stuff right serious.

Same as if hes deliberately buzzing his neighbours. If this turns out true theyll be just as serious with him.

Aviation regulators have no sense of Ha-Ha.

Personally, i think the OP may be over reacting a bit. Things always look worse when its your property. A person indirectly involved usually sees things differently. Post up some video or locations and maybe id have a different view.

It's only an 'airport' in the sense that he has had it designated in some way to 'qualify' so he can get away with what he wants to do.

This is not a municipal airport used by the public just some pilot jerk who seems to want to refuse a neighbors simple request.

Anything the government can 'permit' they can depermit if there is just cause and if it gets to be enough of a problem for them.

Pilot Jerk? Remember were only hearing ONE side of this story.

Personally i think hes over reacting. Ive lived 3 mi off the end of a busy small airport, plus my mother lives less than 1/2 mile from this same airport. Planes are well under 400' going over moms. Noise, while present, isnt that big of a deal and lasts for at the most 20 seconds.

If theres unbiased EVIDENCE (ie: video or even photos) that this pilot is acting irresponsibly or deliberately going out of his way to harass the OP then ill change my opinion, but as it sounds to me now, the OP is making a mountain out of a molehill. The airport is permitted. He has a right to fly. The OP is just as guilty of being a "jerk" as you put it, for trying to force his will on the pilot.

Had to weigh in on our situation. The Navy (I'm an Army vet myself... love our troops and private pilot) has been trying for 6 years to annex enough land to build a replacement Outlying Landing Field (OLF). This is a small strip where Navy pilots can practice carrier landings (touch n go's like you've described). Norfolk, VA is home to every service in the military and has a long history of aviation. There are 5 military airfields/bases in addition to 4 public airports within 15 miles.

During the recent (circa 2003) real estate boom... developers ignored the Navy / county restrictions on building within the safety zone. Now that the economy is bust... the developers want the current OLF (active since 1942) closed... due to jet noise and plummeting home sales. The citizens of NC have been since fighting Virginia's attempt to off-load the issue. Visit the official web site for details

Some factual highlights: 1) the F/A-18 is the loudest aircraft in production (including all passenger aircraft). 2) Their primary "need" is for night-time carrier landing practice (imagine hundreds of landings every night - starting after 10pm). 3) The military currently operates 3 full bases with patterns over the Chesapeake Bay (fish don't seem to mind the noise). 4) Our county is dense with water fowl ('bird strike') during migration. 5) Navy's answer to waterfowl: pass regulations to prohibit (3rd-5th generation) farmers within 5 miles of the site from growing: wheat, soy beans, corn, or other grain crops. 6) New jobs created following construction: 5 guards.

We hope that our 'defenders of freedom' will consider ours. If the entire nation mobilized for war... there would probably be less fuss. If our bankrupt nation didn't already have 5 useable bases within 120 miles (that's 15 minutes at cruise speed?)... there would probably be less fuss.
Don't just listen to some internet 'rant' .... the facts and legal history are posted elsewhere. Plenty of military loving vets, like me, who have spent our money fighting this... writing congress, funding studies, attending forums.
