Tried to post this a week or so ago, but server was having problems...

I've added a JD top to the Gator HPX to help keep snow or the wet of light rain off me when plowing before the weather clears. I'm expecting I'll need a windshield to assist with this, even though the top extends forward a good bit.

I see a lot of UTV's with poly windshields and no wiper, which I assume are intended just to keep the occupants out of the wind in dry conditions. Does anyone have experience with either not requiring a wiper or absolutely requiring a wiper for the conditions I describe?

A windshield is a great help in the snow/rain. It's surprising how cold it gets on one of these things vs. an ATV. Probably becasue you're just sitting there as opposed to fighting with the ATV.

That said, I'd try to find a glass windsheld as the poly ones scratch very easily. I have a windshield where the upper 90% is glass and the removable lower is poly. The lower one scratches just by touching it.

If you put a wiper on a poly windshield, I can't imagine how messed up that would get.

So far Rain-ex has worked well for mine in the rain/snow. A wiper would be nice, but so far haven't needed one. Besides, I'd have to invent one for mine as there isn't one available.:(

Unless you have a heater/defroster to keep the windshield above freezing, a wiper is ineffective.
