Fecon FTX 148-L

DD you are absolutely right about the machine manufacturer the guys at fecon called the prototype the Camo machine, I guess I know why now. I am a little disappointed that I will not be getting one of the first five released, they have all been spoken for and I was silent on this one. They are trying to build about 5 a month to start and eventually ramping up to 10 a month. I went to the camo website and they have a machine that has the same track system as the Gyrotrac. It is identical looking, if I had to bet I would say it is the same system. Speaking of Gyrotrac I may have to eat some crow, I talked to a service tech from Albuquerque and he has a Gyrotrac in the field with a couple thousand hours running a fecon head and he told me it is holding up pretty well. I guess they put the Bullhog on because of the rocks...I saw a picture and it is pretty funny to see a lean green mulching machine with a Fecon head!

LOL i love the BS
the SK140 is not a made over cat
they built it from the ground up. they buy all the parts from CAT and do all the work.
you need to get your facts right

I would talk with Supertrak before you make to many comments. According to Tom King (the owner of Supertrak) they do just build up the machines. The machines start out as a skid steer then have specialty parts added. The components are all cat but it is not a ground up build! I had an SK300 demo so I am pretty acquainted with ST.

Base Unit

CATョ 287B Skid Steer Loader
Rubber Track
Universal Skid Steer Mount Plate

CATョ D5G Bull Dozer

i have know Tom for a long time and have been at his place a lot of times.
and the sk140 and sk120 are built from the base CAT Skid Steer.
they are shipped from NC and are NOT complete. they finish the work at the South Florida location
when finished they are a good running unit a lot better than the rayco or Fecon.

AMEN to that brother they are much better than Rayco or Fecon. I guess I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought you were stating that they just bought the parts and built them from the ground up in FL. Sorry dude. What do you run?

AT THIS TIME I DO NOT OWN ANY
i ran a construction company for over 20 years you asked what i have i will tell what i have had
first non tractor was a Woodaxe built in Tx around 1990
then kershaw 10-3, added a kershaw 10-10 in 1995 we had 6 kershaw 10-10 funning plus the old 10-3.
added a kershaw 800, along with 2 tv140 tractors,
i imported FAE heads along with Alamo
installed 6 FAE heads on the Kershaws and tv140's
also had 1 fecon head, 3 woods boos tractors at any given time.
2 linkbelt 2800lsII with mulching heads

i now get paid by others to test and report on mulching heads, grinders, and power units (skid steer & prime movers) i see so much spin (bull s......) the sale people put on heads it makes me sick. and the number of people that fall for it is unreal.

yes i have been around for a few years

OK...I saw that post a few days ago but I had been out looking at a job and was unable to respond because my blackberry will not let me post and now the post has been removed.

Lets address the Gyrotrac comparison, to compare Gyrotrac to Fecon shows a lack of judgement to start with. But the undercarriage is so similar that to say one is better than the other makes NO sense.

Second the loader arm thing, if you have your head in material you should be backing straight up, the machine is very powerful and I assume that if you put enough torque on the arms they will flex enough to hit the cab. I have cleared about 400 acres an have not experienced this problem.

Last but not least TWO FIRES A DAY...C'MON MAN! I know why this is caused, if you do not clean the debris off of the engine compartment deck it will lay on the muffler and can catch fire. My machine was delivered in July and it has a factory upgrade of a shroud that keeps the twigs from accumulating, this guy said that he got his machine in September. I don't know about you but I personally would never dream of operating a machine that catches fire twice a day, just another lack of judgement I guess.

I know for a fact that Fecon upgrades all machines when an upgrade comes available as warranty. If you or your dealer does not upgrade your machine it is on you.

All I can say is consider the source. I have never had a post deleted, and neither have most of my buddies on here. I love my FTX 148-L and I will buy a second one as soon as I can find a good reason and the money.
