New holland 655E
I am new the forum and need some advice. I am a novice when it comes to heavy equipement so I apoligize if this is very basic question.

Back Ground
I sold to my 1997 655E Ford/New Holland backhoe to a gentleman in Guatamala. He has asked me purchase and send him rebuild kits for all hydraulic cylinders. Since I owe him some money and a couple of favors I thought no problem......right.

Issue
I have been informed by the New Holland dealer that I will have to purchase the entire inside guts of the cylinder including pistons. While expensive, this could be an solution until shipping cost of pistons to Central America is considered.

Question
It occurred to me that this cannnot be the last 1997 655E in the world and there must be a source for rebuild kits for the origianal cylinders. Keep in mind that it would be via seriel number and model only, becuse of the location of the machine.

ANY help/advice/lead would be a appreciated. I am in Georgia but have no problem dealing anywhere in the lower 48.

Not sure how you got roped into this. Actually the easiest way is to look insidde the hydraulic cylinders and just replace the seals. Not sure how you gonna do it from so far away. It's better to take the quetionable cylinders to a local shop and have them fix you up with seals, rings.

Woods;

I thought the same thing. Who would limit access to their business web site to MSIE8? I'm betting someone is wondering why in the world did we listen to this computer geek. I'm a computer geek but this is ridiculous when you're depending on your customers to view your web site. Oh well...

Drydock, Your message has all the makings of a scam and you being the victim. Did this "Gentleman from Guatemala" send you a check to cover the cost of the backhoe and shipping and send the remaining cash to him? Now he wants you to ship a repair kit?
You can cash the Cashiers check at a bank, and you think you have all this money but it can take up to a month for these checks to clear. Then when the bank finds it is a bogus check they will come after you for the funds.
I sure hope you didn't ship the backhoe yet and still have your money until the the check has cleared the bank!!!!

:)yes. From the outside looking in your right. But this scammer worked for me for a number of years. It's my old backhoe and I still owe him some $$ (for work performed).

I had no intent of sticking him with a bum machine so I am doing everything that I would want him to do for me in the same situation.

But I appreciate the warning - the scammers are everywhere!!!
