I tend to agree on sitting on the seat. The L2800 is the closest in size to your MF tractor of the group, but you'll inevitably migrate toward one unit or the other right away...maybe

I usually err on the side of going a little big when people are not sure, but that is not a hard and fast rule. I am glad you talked with my Dad today. I was out of the office all day due to some meetings in Louisville. Thanks!

I managed my place for years with a Massey 50 so when buying new I started looking at the B series. My mentality at the time was I have a farm tractor I need to replace it with something large enough to do what my old tractor can. Being an old farmer that was my thinking. So I ended up getting a L3130. It just seemed right at the time. Then I used a friends BX to mow when my 3pt mower was down. The BX had a 12 inch smaller mower yet it mowed my place much faster and better than my larger unit. So now I have both the L and the BX2360. It's only once in a while that the L gets used becouse the BX was the right tractor in the first place. It's possible to buy to big and thats what I did. Of course if you try correcting the error and trade down to a smaller or cheaper unit they will kill you on the trade in. thats why I still have the larger machine.

I owned a B2920 for 1-1/2 years and I wanted something a little bigger. The new B3300 really caught my eye. I was very close to pulling the trigger when at the last minute I decided to take one more look at the L3400. The mechanic at my dealership suggested I go with the bigger machine.
I made a decision to take the tractor out of my yard ( except for the occasional need ) and put it into the field, orchard, and woods. We use our 20 HP 3205 cub cadet to mow the grass. Then when I was about to pull the trigger on the L3400 the same mechanic said " why don't you get the L3700 since it is less money".
Well, this past weekend I put 10 hours on my new L3700. ( mowing, pruning, and spraying) I am happy to report I have no regrets and absolutely love the L3700. And as some of you know I coupled it up with a Befco 84" RFM which the L3700 handles easily with power to spare.
As someone else suggested, think about your needs, and take your time to ponder all the information. Listen to other peoples suggestions but in the end follow your own instincts.
Alot of people would probably not put an 84" RFM on a 30PTO HP tractor but it works perfectly for me. I like to mow so I keep the grass short. My peach and apple tree rows are 20' apart so three passes does a row. I can swerve a bit to throw that big mower under the tree better.
All our needs are the same but a little different, we also all run our equipment the same but a little different. That's why what works well for me can be an annoyance to another person.
That is why it is important to take your time to ask, listen, think and then make a decision based on your individual needs. Unless you are JOHNTHOMAS who has a disease and enjoys the process way to much.

OK, the difference is....instead of considering one then trying it I bought it and tried it and found another one to be better.
Also, my needs change so my tractors change. Just like many others on TBN.
