Glad you have it running again. I would suggest you remove positive and negative cables at battery and clean well. Apply a protective additive - they make sprays available at auto stores; vasolene works also. You also may want to follow the negative wire to where it mounts to the frame of the tractor and remove this bolt and clean the frame and wire connector at frame mount as this can cause you same problems as at the battery terminal and is a known spot to cause problems.

You may want to put battery on a auto charger to put a full charge back in battery or to top off battery.

It is possible that when you were losing the negative post connection the fuel solenoid was also losing ground and shutting off; thus starving engine for fuel.

Thank you for the information. I have vasoline so I can use that. I will definitely check where wire connects to frame also. Thanks for the heads up!

Thank you, Tom.

Yeah, I actually kinda like 'some' of this sort of stuff...had a brother that was always taking things apart just to see how they work. I get much more satisfaction from outside kinda work than house work (drive my family crazy cuz I gotta have everything clean & perfect). I am very **** and probably got OCD :D .....like a dog with a bone and a Taurus to boot. In short, I'm a mess.

I guess I was never meant to be on the sofa eating bon bons. *sigh*

i would bet this solves all of your problems. late model low hours tractor if i remember right, you really shouldn't have a multitude of issues with it.

pretty straightforward in hindsight. see, if you can jumper in and get power, the problem can only be somewhere before the jumper. in your case, only one place left to look. now, say, if you jumpered to frame for your ground, your problem could be anywhere between the battery negative terminal, neg cable, and its connection to frame. likewise, you can jumper to the big terminal on the starter for your positive, and you would be looking to isolate a problem with your positive cable with that scenario.

electrical is not as intimidating as it appears. you already know how to use your volt meter. you establish your voltage at the battery. analyze your wiring diagram, and look at your tractor/vehicle. essentially, you should have your same voltage after each run of wire, to and through your switches, interlocks, etc.

nice to hear you are back on the road

Okay, Michael you WIN the GRAND PRIZE!!! I went out and jiggled cable and neg. side was a little loose...didn't do anything else. Turned the key and BINGO!!!! So, ran it to the barn and now I am disconnecting the neg. side altogether, cleaning and reconnecting SNUG! Now, I am wondering if this has been my whole losing RPM's, engine acting fuel starved....it was getting intermittent power due to bumps while mowing etc. Maybe I have WON THE LOTTERY??!!! And, then we have had 3 mechanics looking at this thing trying to determine the 'fuel issue' to no avail. Might not have solved my entire problem, but time will tell.

I am ready for a COLD one!!!! I am sooooo excited!!!

Thank you, thank you!!!

Karen, great job. You stuck with it and kept trying. My favorite saying "all the really hard things are accomplished by people who keep trying when everyone else has given up hope". Glad I could be of some small help. Clean those terminals with a wire brush or sand paper, both the post on the battery and inside the clamp. This is a periodic mantenance thing that most people (including me) don't do.

I have read the fuel postings and now the "dead" tractor posting and have to chuckle because my TZ22DA had been running without any issues, and then I read the fuel problem posting (tractor suddenly starts dying, idle rough, leave it set for a while and it starts and runs fine) and guess what mine did this past weekend....come on....guess. Yep, it did exactly what the TZ25DA did. So, now I'm expecting I will be suddenly left out in the field with a dead, no power TZ...however I'm heading this one off at the pass, I'm checking my battery terminals TONIGHT...then, I'll start checking for debris in the tank or filters.

Just how do these tractors know what I've been reading about them????

BTW, mine ran just fine the rest of the day and evening mowing and moving dirt piles. I'm thinking I must have something in the tank for it to be running this long after the incident. I do have the "long" fuel line which one poster presented as a possible issue due to it possibly kinking. I'm glad I found this forum and I sure do enjoy reading up on the issues and the solutions.
