I cannot think of the name of the thing you can put in the bed of a pickup that allows you to roll loose material out of the bed. It's nothing fancy, just some sort of flexible material that rests in the bed under your material, and it conveyors the material out as you turn a crank.

Can anyone tell me what that product is called?

Can anyone tell me if they are worthwhile at all? I'd say 90% of the usage for me would be just for mulch, which doesn't seem like it would pose a problem.

Thanks

I've got the same thoughts as you. LSbrown had the best take on one of those units. It went something like this "10% as good as a dumptruck, 100% better than a shovel."

Found it. Welcome to Loadhandler.com

Seems a bit infomercial/gimicky to me...
I agree. Nothing beats a shovel at times, besides, loose/light material is easy. Gotta do something to keep the body in shape! I just shoveled 9000 lbs of crushed limestone repairing driveways today. It is a once a year thing for clients.

I hear ya. I just put down 16 yards of mulch and 2 single axle dump trucks of top soil in 3 days. I was sore. The dirt I dumped and moved with the FEL 90% of the way and shoveled it in place then onto the rake.

The mulch was all hauled on my tandem axle trailer in 3 loads and shoveled off.

i have one of those that has sat in the shed for about 6 yrs now, used it once to get a load of sand for around the boat dock and still ended up unloading it all with the shovel.

Gentlemen, they work awesome. I made my own for my trailer. Then I used a small cable winch to power it. I can load my trailer, drive a quarter mile unload and be back loading again before freebird is over. :) Best part is, I can do that all day long.
It will handle trailer load of sod clumps, shot rock or whatever you have.
Still plenty of exercise getting on and off the tractor every few minutes. :)

Steve,

The exercise and freebird parts were pretty funny, but you've still gotta attach a pic. What's your winch is it electric or...human powered!

I'm interested because I'm debating converting a flatbed f350 to a dump. If you have a reasonable solution it may sound better than the work I'm thinking of taking on in the conversion.

There have been several good posts about the Loadhandler on this site. Do a search for some interesting reading. I can't recall anyone who doesn't like it after using one.
