Thanks, Leo!!

Looks like the armor plate was in the hydraulics section. When I go
to the rental kit section, the parts manual only shows parts for the
range shifter handle and linkages.

I don't know what the hose clamp (#3) is for and what the 2 bolts (#4)
connect to. Perhaps this armor plate fits a bunch of different models?

Yeah, but I thank you for your effort!!!

You're welcome Roy.

I suspect your right about this plate fitting multiple models.

The 4200 frame is a tad shorter than the 43/4400 frame so maybe the different tie-in points are just to accommodate that. The front hitch is attached to slightly different holes depending on whether its a 4200 or 43/4400.

Don't really wanna booger up the thread unnecessarily but I think the attached pics say it all...

I got stuck finishing up my 420 loader refurbishment. I need one more
hose, and I wanted to order it when I had other stuff to order at the
same time.

I have replaced all of my short hoses (#4) with 12" pre-made hoses with JIC
female fittings. These hoses can be purchased for less than $10 each
from many sources, and they are better quality vs. OEM. JD sells these
hoses locally for $58 each! Since I used pre-made hoses, I needed to
get some fittings: the cyls use SAE ORBs, and the hardlines use ORFS.
So I got the necessary fittings, which allows me to do the short hoses
for less than $20 each, total cost.

In the finished photo you can see my installation, next to the reinstalled
hardlines. Note that the replacement hardlines run $82 from Deere, so I
put some time into straightening mine (#16, 17, 18, 19).

I am posting these pix of another 4300 I now have to illustrate what
happens with dirt buildup. There is an acumulation of as must as an
inch of dirt under the seat, and behind the instrument cluster.

In the third photo, you can see the results of my first-pass pressure-
wash. I have since done a second pass, after removing more parts.

Why is this important? Rust. I will re-paint the 3-pt cyl housing after
I remove it to replace the range shift shaft. Behind the instrument
panel, the combo plug/socket can be problematic, too. You can
not easily replace the plug without getting an all new wiring harness.
Note that this machine has a working hour meter, registering 2019
hours. The engine runs fine.

This unit has higher hours than the subject of this thread, but
it never experienced the problem that caused engine failure. The
fuel drain tube next to filler cap is missing, which is good.

Where did this latest 4300 come from? That almost looks like fly-ash behind the instrument panel.

I think Dave is running a home for sick tractors. They seem to just migrate to him of their own accord.:D
