I see that you have quite the collection, but I don't see an antique traffic signal in there.:D I might have to look at what it would take to ship one your way for restoration. IMO, it would look good in your collection.

STOP right there :D Just had to start it that way Cyril

I have two of them in the collection. One was a training light in the 1950'5 and the other (don't know how old it is but it's all aluminum). The new ones now are plastic.

I restored those about five years ago. Now before anyone says I have way to much time on my hands I have to say I don't. It was just something I wanted to add to the collection.

I received an email from a fellow yesterday about something someone posted on me. Apparently someone posted one of my builds and someone said I had way to much time on my hands. It was titled "Have you Seen This".

I didn't get involved in it at all but it just goes to show that friends are better than money. I don't know any of these guys but it was very interesting to say the least. It's a two page thread. If any of you have way to much time on your hands and would like to see the thread here it is  I'm known as Wildfire over there

Ahh... you were just hiding them.

As for the polycarbonite heads and lenses, they were short lived. Everything new is back to aluminum.

Ya there's to much out there now. That's why I haven't restored anything in awhile. I just have the room. I even forgot I had those lights. It's hard to hold myself back. I see something that catches my eye and I have to put my tail between my legs and walk away from it. No good buying it if there's no where to place it once it's completed.

Jeez Paul! I never thought you had "too much time on 'your' hands".

In fact, I wonder if you get any sleep! Posting, working, fabbing, designing, CLEANING, restoring, collecting, and handing out some of the nicest advice must take tons of time. I always wonder how the heck you do it!
No matter what happens, keep up the amazing work. People all over are counting on your inspiration to help them get through the day.:D

There's only two things that I've ever heard about my work that really gets me upset and one of them is "You have to much time on your hands". I've been out in the shop at 2 am in the morning painting a 1957 Coke machine and have to start the shop up at 8am for my regular working day. I did stuff like that for years.

The other thing that I hate is when some one wants to view my restored items and the shop where I work and they say " you would never think a place like this would be in Newfoundland"!

I just reply "Why not"! The tour is over!

Thanks WG for your comments. It's guys like yourself that brings me back here all the time.

The truth is I'm always burning both sides of the candle. Most job/restorations I do I take photo's of them to post on various sites. I don't do it to get any recognition from anyone but just to share the methods I use on each project and hope it will aid someone else in something they are doing.

The only thing I ever really wanted to prove was to myself and see if I could pull it off. Weather it was a restoration, a custom built item or a tool I hand built.

If someone else enjoyed it well that's the bonus :) There are times that I post at 4 am in the morning. I get questions about motorcycle restorations, fabrication, welding and painting and I try and answer all of the emails I get including my photo questions on my Flickr photo page and my Youtube Channel.

Anyway today I put a stripper on the Ironworker. It's supposed to be for when you punch holes in thinner metal. To be honest I never found any problems with stamping thinner material but for $70. from Edwards I said why not. I also added another angle gauge so I wouldn't have to be taking it from one side to the other.

Oh and for any spelling police out there. I don't give a rats A... If I have a typo. If It upsets you seeing them don't read my threads. It will happen again you can be sure of that. :confused3:

Have a safe weekend everyone

Paul: I just realized that one aspect of what makes your projects so interesting to look at is the photography. Very nicely done! Seriously. Have you tried glamour photography??

Holy Cow Paul. I just read the max specs printed on the front of the punch (1st pic). Max 1" hole in 3/4" plate???:confused2: Now that's what I call a punch.:laughing::laughing:

Thank you sir. I use a number of cameras. I have an old Sony that's used In the shop only and two other great quality Sony's that I use for everything else. Heck now with the new iPhone that makes four. Good lord that makes me a camera collector. I didn't even know what a Glamour Photographer was until you brought it up and I had to Googleize it. I think you'll have to be the one that will mention it to the wife :) Glad you liked the pics. Thanks

Yes it does pack a good punch. You can go thicker with a smaller punch. Thanks for posting.

Don't pay any attention to door knobs that would say you have "too much time on your hands", even if it's me saying it....:laughing::laughing: just kidding.....
You and I tend to frequent some of the same sites and there are a few individuals that I class as superstars, not because of their work (which is outstanding) but their willingness to share their techniques and knowledge. Yorkiepap, Wrought_n_harv, Garybdavis and yourself are the names that jump right out for me. All of you have excellent craftsmanship, artistic talent, and the common spirit of sharing your skill just for the sake of sharing.

When I worked for Hewlett Packard years ago we used to say that 80% of the complaints came from 10% of the customers. It is true on the internet as well. Just consider the source and ignore them.

Now as to my ironworker envie.........I can hardly wait until you get the plasma cam so I can see the stuff you come up with on it.:licking::licking:

Keep up the great posts, even if there coming from Newfoundland......:D:D:D:D When I lived in Alberta we had so many that came west because of the lack of work on the rock and they really made my day because they were so friendly and fun. The fit right in with the westerners.........

Have a great weekend.
Glenn.

Yes Glenn there's plenty of Newfie's out in Alberta. I'd say half of Newfoundland is working there these days. I'm the only odd ball that stayed home. I've had a good many opportunity's to go there to work but decided to stay put and scratch a living behind my house. Yes I'm a back yard mechanic

Oh man you must have me mixed up with someone else. I'm about as far from a superstar as one can get. I know what happened. You thought I was Paul Newman

You've named some great guys there excluding me but you forgot one that I know and he shares a wealth of information on here. Yep it's YOU! I guess it takes everyone who is a member on here to make this place work. It's a great site, no doubt about it.

I'm still waiting on the info from PlasmaCam then I'll take a closer look at it. As for the critics of my work. I don't mind criticism but if there going to criticize me they should be able to show me what there doing that's better. Saying I have to much time on my hands is just not the way it is. It's actually the opposite.

Thank you sir for your kind words again. You know your going to give me a complex don't you
