I have a paved driveway so don't plan on needing a box scraper. I really can not think of any implements except a rotary cutter where I would be carrying the weight of the implement with the TPH, but again this will be my first and hopefully only tractor so I'm not sure if I'm thinking through everything.

The other implements I think I will want in the future are tiller, chipper and log splitter and don't need position control.

Just trying to make the purchase with both eyes open so I'm not disappointed later.

I have an L3130 with position control and a BX2360 without it. There is no getting around it position control is nice and quarter inching sucks. Before getting my L3130 I had a Massey 50 and hooking up 3pt implements sometimes was hard. That all went away when I got the grand L with it's telescoping arms. If this is going to be your only tractor for long term get the 2630 and enjoy a full featured tractor instead of one thats sold to meet a price point. Who knows what you will need in the future. A least with the 2630 you will be ready. As far a mowing there was someone on here awhile back that made brackets for the tractor and used chains to suspend the deck on his. I would use a RFM if I had to and get the nicer tractor for everything else.

First off, I wanted to thank all the posters on this board, it really helps to get feedback from people that own the equipment.

I think I've followed the same path as many on this board, looking at BX1860 first, then BX2360 and BX2660. I have not ruled these out, but I have 6.5 acres mostly wooded with about 1.5 acres of lawn. It seems like the BX series would be fine for my grass and some loader work, but the clearance is not that great to take it back in the woods. I also worry that the hydraulics are about half the gpm's of the B series, plus it looks like some people have problems with certain three point hitch implements not fitting.

I'm primarily want to cut the grass, but I will be getting a loader mostly for hauling wood chips from where the tree people will drop them near the road to the back part of the property for compost. I'm interested in getting a tiller and a chipper eventually, but at first it will just be the MMM and Loader.

I think the B2920 will do everything I need, but I've read on this form that the quarter inching valve is the spawn of the devil and should be avoided, and to only go with the position control of the B2630 or B3030. There is about a $1800 dollar difference (my quoted price so far) between B2920 and B2630, with the B2630 being more expensive. It also looks like the MMM for the B2630 is not suspended but rides on the deck wheels, the guy at the tractor place said that make the cut look worse.

I've heard more recent posts say the quarter inching valve actually does hold it's position if adjusted right, you are still limited to quarter inch increments but the TPH won't keep dropping. It would be nice to confirm this.

So now I'm back to being stuck because I don't want to pay more for position control that I most likely won't need and also have a lesser mower, but I also don't want to feel a couple of months down the line that I should have gotten the position control. I think there are some other differences like a better seat and telescopic links on the PTO making the hook up of implements better.

The extra features on the B2630 are nice, but not sure if they are $1800 nice. I have no issue with the floating MMM on the B2630, some seem to think its a big deal, but to me floating vs suspended is six of one, half a dozen of the other. If you can get the diff down to maybe $1000 I'd say go for the B2630.

The B2x20 series is nowhere close to "lawn tractorish". That applies to the BX series in my opinion. Also your B2630 has a ground contact mower. Floating is the same as suspended, and you have neither.

I knew I would offend someone when I used the term "lawn tractorish". I guess I should've said just said "smaller". Sorry. This pic from another thread gives a bit of a comparison in size:

Thanks for correcting me on the mower deck, yes the B2630 does have a ground contact mower. Personally I like it, and it seems to mow fine for me.

As I mentioned earlier, I had a chance not long ago to check out a B3030 and was very impressed. It just felt good. I liked the telescopic arms and stabilizers on the 3 pt hitch plus the position control. Also the additional hydraulic strength for the FEL & loader. I liked the wider stance, I think it is 54" vs 49 on the 2920. I noticed davatc has a 5' MMM and seems pleased with it. I would probably choose it over the 6' also and that might help minimize some of the concerns some of the users have with the 6' one with scalping and adjustment issues. With 19.5 PTO HP, using the 5 HP per ft of rotary mower, it seems like you would be at a 4' mower which would not cover the tracks. If your just going to use it to clear trails and tame rough areas so you can use the MMM, that is probably ok, I would prefer something a bit wider.

With the 2920, I am using a 5' rotary mower. If I was to do it again, I would probably buy a 54" one which would still be wider than the rear tires and be lighter. I have only a two times when I couldn't cut in mid range with it and that was in tall very heavy weeds (lespedeza). And I like the suspended MMM.

Now that I am a bit more knowledgable than when I bought mine, I would certainly give the 2630 a strong consideration. But it would still be a tough decision as to how much I would be willing to pay. If the MMM was offered in a suspended vs, that would be more likely to tip the scales or if I used it primarily in more open areas I would just put an RFM on it.

I wanted to go with the 2630 when I got my 2620, but I could not justify the additional costs of around $3000 (FEL, BH, MMM). I went from a B7200 with position control and ground contact MMM to the B2620 with 1/4"ing and suspended MMM. Personall for me I have not had any issues switching or noticed any adverse differences between the two. Obviously they all work and get the job done. It just depends on what jobs you do the most and what is a priority or how picky you want to be. I don't bush hog acres and acres which seems to be the biggest complaint about the 1/4"ing. I was just in the woods a few days ago skidding some logs and wished I had a bigger tractor, although I may not have been able to manuever where I was, but then I wish I had a smaller tractor when I mow around the house. I am very impressed with the abilities of the B2620 and still think I made a good choice (for me) in getting a good do-all machine. Be aware that the B2x20 will tear up the lawn with R4's and sharp turns, that was my biggest dissapointment and surprise going from my b7200 to the B2620. You mentioned 2630 to 2920, but I agree with evil you might want to consider the 2620, 26hp to 26hp. Your future chipper is usually what makes guys consider the 29hp of the 2920 though.

I would love to have a 2630, but I just couldn't over the extra cost. The 3pt differences become more of a subject if you are changing implements a lot. I sometimes have 2-3 diff implements on and off in one day, plus FEL and BH and MMM, but it is not that bad dealing with the turnbuckles(keep them lightly greased). I even bought a quick hitch and got tired of trying to fab up my implements to fit it and really don't even use except for log skidding.

Take your time weigh your options and uses and future uses. Ask plenty of questions and go look at each tractor (preferrably side by side) and see how they fit you.

Hey, quick thought about suspended deck vs ground contact. The suspended deck should make the tractor more stable on slopes, because the weight is carried by the tractor on the bottom nice and low. The ground contact takes the weight of the MMM off the tractor leaving it's center of gravity higher.

Yep the step for the b3030 bolts right on the b3200. And it is worth every penny.:thumbsup:

I am going to back davatk on this one. When I physically got to sit on both of the tractors I liked the 2630 better. The bigger size is what I liked as I have a fairly open yard to cut. One of the options I liked was the quick connect front bucket, and the 60" bucket that I chose. Something else to ask the dealer, when I ordered mine in June Kubota had a $1000 rebate on the 2630. That alone sold me on the 2630 as the price difference was minimal then. I love my 2630 and have never second guessed my decision. The ground contact mower cuts my 3 acres great!!
