Buying Advice JD 4300 questions

I don't know of any OEM that gives away workshop/technical/service manual's for free.
The first two that come to mind are Tanaka and Zama. I just bought a Tanaka Trimmer because of the parts and tech guides. And Zama tells you everything you could ever hope to know about their carburetors. I've run into others too and I hope it keeps expanding.

Plus they give you JDParts for free
Oh yeah, its a HUGE feather in Deere's cap.

How many pages does that 4200 - 4400 tech manual have in it?
742

I have a true Deere dealer service CD that has a lot of tractor models on it. Just as an experiment I bought a couple single model CD's on ebay from different sellers that both absolutely guaranteed they were true Deere factory produced CD's, and not counterfeit. Since I know what real ones look like, I was immediately able to see they were counterfeits that they had attempted to make look like the real ones. Perhaps they have one of those real CD's, and copy off single model portions and sell them. Or maybe just reproduce some else's counterfeit they bought on eBay. Probably make a lot of easy money doing that. Not making any judgments here, just stating how things are.

I guess when I wrote OEM, I meant of large equipment like trucks, cars, tractors, dozers, (Ford, GM, Dodge, CAT, Deere, NH, Kubota, ect,) I mean how big is a trimmer or carb tech manual compared to tractor?

The JD manual are so well written, and with the "theory of operation" section in each part they are cheap in opinion. The CD version was only about $70 for my machine.

arabil. you were correct. It was the part that you indicated. They replaced the gasket.

Thanks to everyone for their help and answers!

I am now the owner of a John Deere 4300!!! It is being delivered Friday.

Would the dealer be the best place to get an operators manual or should I buy it online somewhere?

Congrats on your new ride! I hope it works out well for you!!!

Which revision date is your manual?
the official Deere manual for the 4200 - 4400 has 694 pages.
Yeah, which one do you have? Mine is TM1677 Apr01. Also, if we're comparing PDF to the physical book, they'll be different because PDF counts every page including the covers.

Interesting...the official Deere manual for the 4200 - 4400 has 694 pages.

My PDF from JD has a total of 742 pages, like Arrabil's, and my paper
manual is 1 5/8" thick with no total page counts. Page #s are section-
by-section in the paper version.

BTW, another manufacturer that gives away PDFs of parts books AND
service manuals is Genie/Terex.
