Other than calling it the front rubber boot I am not sure what else to call it- but either way I ripped one. Can some explain how to remove and fix. I have attached some pictures- not bad but I will be doing the 50hr service in a few weeks and want to fix this also. Can't see why they don't protect them better. I have AG tires so the guard it just not enough to cover the boot. I guess if you have turf or R4 it may but with what I have they really stand out. Only fault I have so far with the tractor. But then again I only have 40hrs on it:D

Take the nut off the bottom of the tie rod and use a piese of wood and hit it out and unscrew the tie rod. Measure the length of threads showing. Take off the clips and slide the boor off.

A number of folk on here have reported a barnyard fix of covering it with a piece of innertube and putting band clamps at each end.

While it won't look at pretty as a factory boot, it might be more durable. :p

There is also a proper tool for pulling tie rods.:)

Can the shield be extended??

I noticed one of mine was torn not long ago. Nothing leaking out so I'll wait and see.

I did get some ideas from the postings... Thanks

Have fun and stay safe......

I checked this on mine and because it is able to turn so sharp, any extension would come into contact with the tire when turning sharp.

I'm gonna try the innertube idea.
