Hello all,

While I was reviewing the purchase price of a PT with implements I foresee needing, it occurred to me that the adjustable forks (for a 1430) are not well priced at all... (Unlike many other PT implements.)

A search in the forum confirmed that I'd be better off going to a forklift biz and/or shop around for used gear.

I'm no expert in implements pricing. Does anyone feel that other PT implements are uncompetitively priced? (I thought the snowblower was expensive, but it appears to be inline with the price of CUT snowblowers...)

Thank-you in advance for your thoughts,

I am using a 16 in forklift carriage with adapters on the back for my 3pt PT-1445. Here is a picture of it with one fork which use to move trailers.

I got the carriage and forks for about $150.

I come from the John Deere side of things, and JD prices are worse. PT has raised prices a lot in the past ten years or so, and I think many of their implements are too high considering the engineering level. The fork prices are absolutely ridiculous.

PT will always be PT. Nothing more, nothing less.

I certainly felt one could get better forks for less money. Lackender made mine since i was having them make a light material bucket for me. Otherwise, i would have bought a used set of forks and welded a plate onto them. I also like Lackender's mini hoe which gives me 6' of depth which is important up here.

Depends on the implement and size of tractor. When we bought our PT425 in 2001, the buckets were a few hundred each, the forks were $250, the mower deck was 1200 and the brush hog under 1000. The ramps for loading the tractor into the pickup were only 100.

I think it has been mentioned that the PT425 was the sweetspot for pricing and the larger machines had pretty expensive implements. It has always been suggested here on TBN that if you are contemplating purchase of one of the larger machines, get enough extra quick attach plates to use 3rd party implements. ;)

I went back and grabbed my list from my website from 2001.

Price: The last driving factor in my decision to purchase the PT425 was the price. $8000.00 for the tractor with the lift arms and quick attach installed. All of the implements also were very reasonably priced. The small bucket was $300.00. The teeth were $100.00, the 60" mower was $1200.00, the 60" power angle snow blade was $450.00 and the large light material bucket was under $400.00. All told, the entire package was under $13,000.00 delivered. I couldn't touch that price for any of the other units that I looked at.

Today, the tractor is $11,000
Small bucket is $370
Teeth are $150
Large bucket is $450
60" mower is $1500
45" Brush cutter is $1200
60" power angle snow plow with wheels is $800
Arm rests are $150
Quick attach plate is $175
Ramps are $250
Total is now $16045!
Plus trucking!!!

Looks like a 33% increase in price.

Anyone know how much the price of steel has increased over the last 9 years? Just curious.

Steel is somewhere around 175% to 180% of what it was 10 years ago, depending on the type, which can vary quite a bit. The charts don't seem to be entirely consistent, so it's hard to get an accurate measure.

You can also thank the US government for the continued devaluation of the dollar for much of the increased cost of today's goods...

Big diesel tractors have gone up a lot in the last 10 years, but the small stuff has not. I think that this is more to do with mass production than anything. The lawn/ garden tractors at the Home Depots have not increased at all, and maybe have even gone down a bit. That creates more of the sticker shock on the PT.

The Ventrac 4231 that I have cost about $17,000 for just the tractor. That makes the PT425 look pretty darn good.
