Finished installing Metal Duct Work and Flex Duct. HDG is wrapped with a R-6 bubble wrap/foil. I had a HVAC shop size the duct with my 2 ton Heat Pump and Air Handler.
They need to know the area footage and room ceiling heights.
They charged $520 for the materials they fabricated. I had to cut out the holes for the flex duct adapters and hook the hard lengths together using S-hooks and drive cleats shaped like a C. The Z shaped rail or S-hooks, hooks the flat sides together on the top and bottom. The drive cleats lock the sides together and keep it from coming apart. Once you see it, it is easy to understand.

The flex duct adapters have a rubber adhesive gasket, but you use sheet metal screws to tighten the gaps and hold them in place.

12' up in the air, climbing up and down, working by yourself is a grind. It took about 2.5 days to get it all right. A helper would have been nice.

Flex duct are fairly short runs so flow should be pretty good. Unit is somewhat oversized for the conditioned area in the garage.
I am now into the AC/Heat to the tune of about $2200 and a little more to go.
Next step is the R-36 blown insulation.

Worked on building the transition from the inside air handler to the duct work. Did it while I have it on the ground. I will break it down add the remaining 5' duct to the trunk line and then install the air handler. I have to switch out the drain pan inside the air handler to make it work as a horizonal unit instead of the upflow vertical set up from the factory. Then the final install of the transition section. Only about 4" long.

It is a long way up there on a ladder. The flex duct is now cut way back to about 4-5' runs.

Only duct work left is for the Air Supply Side. I installed a 20 x 20 lined supply box with filter screen. I am going to come out with an 18" collar and flex duct back into the air handler. I have one of my customers fabricating a box 24 x 48 x 10 with a matching 18" collar. I will have to make the cut for the box into the air handler.
18" fittings look really big in person.

Back to my fire pit project. Rebar etc... depth leveled out at 4-5". 4 yards of 3000 psi concrete will be required.
Now I need to fab up some other small pads and a sidewalk and pour it.

Still have to wire wrap around the pit. The depth there is up to 8-10" and then tapers up to the 4-5" level.

I had never used the rebar saddles. $30 and well worth it, better than hunting rocks. These seem like they will stay in place and do the job.
16' x 16' with a 4' ring. The pit is counter sunk to be level with the pad.

Finishing up the duct work. I had a shop build an insulated box 2' x 4' x 10" with a 18" connector for the incoming supply air. Then I matched the unit and cut a hole 9" x 20". It ends up be a giant 90 degree turn.

I had a tight fit because of the trusses. You can see what little room I had to work with.

You can see how it covers almost all of the flex duct and even the hard duct line.
The hard line is a giant T feeding off the Air Handler.

I have a small electric oil filled heater. I cycle it on and off 4 times per day. The High and Low Temps inside the 800 square feet insulated hold between 40 and 50 degrees. Outside temps really have not made it vary much. Inside the uninsulated garage the High and Low Temps have been running from 19 to 54 degrees.

Great looking project:thumbsup: looks super. Nothing like doing it your self to make sure you get it right. You will sure come out ahead paying with sweat equity over cash. If you don't like it is easier to change it your self since you know how you did it in the 1st place. Question about your fire pit, why off to the side? I'm toying with building one and thought about being able to get all around it depending on breeze.

You make some great points. With a 4' diameter, if I put it in the center I would have 6' to stand on all 4 sides. 16' x 16' pad. This is already 4 yards. 66 yards in and around the building. I wanted to have some seating or grilling area around the pit. If the smoke goes the wrong direction they will have to step off into the grass. Later I may add some more concrete or gravel on the backside. With the pit counter sunk this should help a little bit with the wind blowing. My old fire pit was on the surface and had 3-4' sides and back. Smoke would still change direction but did not seem to be a big problem.

Here is the reason I am building this garage. It is to replace a the garages and a second home we had in the mountains. The house in the mountains was the result of hard work and good times. Now we just get to look forward to hard work. (SMILE)
My garage 28 x 32?, hard to remember.

My motorcylce garage 16 x 16 with 2 small lofts for storage. Insulated on an 8 -10" slab. There was a lean to on the backside. Also in front of this building was a 30' x 12' shed.

I have a two car garage without any room to move. This will change once the garage is finished. Behind the house is my Motorcycle Garage.
It is 12 x 16. I have a new roll up door to install this spring waiting for some free time.

Any picture has something to do with a tractor, either to clear and level or as in the last picture to move concrete. We would have killed ourselves if we had to haul the 6 yards of concrete with wheelbarrels on that grade. The New Holland got a flat on the last load to the backyard.
