Some of the ways I used the tractor today.
As a cement mixer bucket.

Hauling dirt and concrete bags.
I used it to load the small generator to drill out my holes to 1/2 inch to match my threaded rod and nuts.
It always comes in handy.

I needed a sky hook to hold my fire pit ring in place level while I try to frame out for concrete. This came pretty close to doing the job.

It will take about 5 yards.
Once this sets, I will work on figuring out how I am going to form the hole in the pit.

I had to make a curved curb and used 3 layers of 1/4" hardboard (masonite). Worked well.

I would cut strips the width you needed for the height and wrap the inside of the ring. Add a second strip to the end of the first to complete the circle. If cut to the right length, they will fit tight. Repeat for three layers of thickness. Then add concrete stakes at about 1 per foot around the inside. Should have good strength and give a clean finish.

Great Idea. I thought of using masonite but I was worried about strength. Layers are a great solution. Gives me some direction for next weekend. Thanks.

I used 3 layers inside and out for a 6x6 curb. You may want to do four layers depending on height.

Also, when doing layers, don't forget to stagger your seams.

Here are a couple pix of the curb I did.

I really enjoy this project. You've actually given me the idea of building a large shop building with living quarters on my property so that I can move out of my current house sooner. It would probably mean a little longer before I could get the new house itself built but a well laid out set of living quarters might actually be nicer for me and the wife to live in for a while than to stay where we are at. I really like what you're doing with the build.

Oh congrats on 1 year on this thread by the way.

I decided to line the inside with concrete blocks. With a 4' diameter they should not get too hot to crack. If they do it should not really be a problem as I can always have a steel rolled ring fabricated and install it on the ID.

I went a little heavy on the ID of the pit to give it some strength for when the pad is poured. I have a little over half of the ring blocked. I also added concrete on the outside of the block.

Added 3 to 4 tons of gravel and a ton of dirt to level out the pad.
It will take another ton or so to get it to a 5" slab.

Took some time today to clean up some piping that was not as clean looking as I wanted.
I could not get a tight fit against the wall for the water heater piping.
I am going to box it out and completely cover the offending piping.
What I did not like looking at:

Boxed in and will add insulation and then enclose.

Not sure if it really looks much better but I keep telling myself it does.

Finished boxing in Water Lines and added heat tape to pipes to keep them from the cold temps. You can see the little orange light. Shuts on at 38C and off at 45C.
