Winter Storm of Feb 1-3

In my part of Central Texas, just North of Austin and after a weekend of sunshine and temps 75-85 degrees, it's gotten cooler. At 3 AM, just before the cold front, it was 54 degrees... the front hit, bringing winds to 60 MPH, rain, hail and sleet... right now, it's 26 and dropping. No skinny dipping today <sigh>

Here in western Mass the snow is really piling up...I just hope the roof can handle what's coming.

Mud season should be a real treat...

Its started snowing pretty hard here in Macomb, Illinois. They are now predicting as much as 12-24" of snow.

I heard Boston is supposed to get hammered, with those "wicked" narrow streets that has got to be crazy.

Any one know the name of this storm, if it's as bad as predicted I'm sure we'll all remember it in the future.

Oh, the media will put some kind of name on it, after it's done. Won't be known by the same "name" everywhere. In Chicago, they refer to the 1967 storm, for example, and everywhere who lived through remembers it as such.

2011 storm, Groundhog day storm of 2011, etc.

Whatever. First, it has to live up to it's billing. Then, it'll be named for sure.

Freezing rain/sleet mix here in Branson, there are power outages in Rogersville, it is much colder just a few miles north, we are at 32 deg. hoping the temp will drop here soon to change over to snow, they are calling it the worst winter storm in 99 years. Who knows, but it predicted to get pretty cold wed. nite, with lows at -12 or lower, and then winds of 30 mph. Hard to say, but looks like a bad one.

I think we have dodged the freezing rain bullet, we had sleet for about 2 hours, after I posted, now just heavy snow, and the wind is gusting now pretty hard. Looks like lots more snow coming. We have dropped to 23 now, which is a good thing.

Here in South Central Ontario we are expecting up to 10 inches or so. After the 2 feet we had in early Dec. this should be easy! Since that storm we have had a few more feet of snow and almost no rain to melt it away. My 800 foot gravel driveway is in great shape so far through a lot of hard work with the tractor.
