Just an update, was using it last night, and went to re-engage the blower, and the center PTO driveshaft exploded and got thrown out the side. Upon taking a look at it, the cv-joint on the tractor end of the shaft broke. Luckily it didnt do any damage to the rest of the mid-driveline pto kit. Im going to my local dealer today to warranty the shaft. Im just glad it didnt do any damage to the tractor. I felt it give and hit the floor of the tractor. Man I have the worst luck. Ofcourse Syracuse NY has been having record snowfall, and I believe yesterday they confirmed we are the highest in the country right now at 130+-".

I will try to get pics...

SeymourBota,
Try an Awl to line up the holes.

Techman,
Are those stock chute controls? I wonder if they'd work on my B2781? What did that cab come off of? It kinda looks like a walk behind SB? How is it to work in?

AMG280,
Did the dealer install this beast? Lot of trouble foe a new setup.

T-Man.

Yes those are the chute controls. I put them in a plastic j-box (painted Bota orange). The switches were okay (from Kubota) but they wanted you to drill the dash area. I made up the box and it is held on for winter with a couple of wing nuts. I used connectors on things so everything unplugs for removal in the warm seasons. They should work on your 2781. They are Kubota, but found them new on eBay several years ago.

As for the cab, I was in Sears one day and they had it on close-out. It was for a Sears tractor. It was under $100, so I bought it on speculation. With minor work it fit on the Bota. Back is open, which is fine as it keeps the head winds and blowing snow off of me. I have a new fan blade ordered which is a reverse flow. It should blow the warm air on me and make it even better. The cab goes on and off in about 30 minutes.

Let us know how you like that reverse fan and if it helps or not. If it does, then darn it I'm ordering one..

Have yet another update. Local dealer finally got the backordered shaft in. Brought it home the other night and installed it. I noticed it seemed a little shorter than the original one. The front slide part of the shaft that slides onto the splined shaft of the quick hitch barely was on after I clicked in the back of the shaft to the mid-pto. None the less, it was on, and didnt think anything of it. I had a car stuck in my driveway and needed to move 3 weeks of snow.

Turn the PTO on, everything seemed fine. Gave it some throttle, felt a horrible vibration, felt the driveshaft give, and then motor stopped. All in the course of about 5 seconds. It turned this driveshaft into a pretzel. It came off the front spline, rear still attached. It got caught on the oil pan (put a pretty nice dent in it) and thats what must have stalled the engine. :(

I got so fed up i dropped the tractor and blower off at the dealer on Monday. I told him I wanted to pull the insurance card and just replace everything it needs. He said I may get a new blower out of it. Who knows. I will let you guys know what Kubota does. The mechanic said he might of accidently ordered the wrong size shaft. Many of you might be thinking the front quick hitch shaft may have got pushed forward a bit from the demise of the first shaft I broke, but it didnt. Its still in the 8.5-9" range from the rear bearing back, right by the book I measured before I brought it there to make sure it wasnt that. If that was off anyways, the front would be off as well.

Attached is a pic of the second driveshaft. Hopefully I wont have to use it anymore this season!

OH Dear, it bowed slightly when you lowered it and then wadded itself when it could not rotate freely, Ouch!!!

I just hope you have no more snow to deal with as this has turned into another

"Lucy you have some splaining to do!!!" Moments.

ANy chance you can have a new "proper size" driveline made in Syracuse and have the dealer foot the bill so that you can have your tractor tomorrow?

The blowers do get a little beat up from normal use. I touch mine up with spray paint every spring before I put it away. The orange can be painted with Chevy Orange engine paint #1620. It's almost an exact match. My blower is 6 years old & looks almost new after I paint it.

TRACTOR SUPPLY HAS THE EXACT SPRAY PAINT FOR kUBOTA:eek:

I still havent heard anything from my dealer yet. I definetely got screwed yesterday morning. We got another nasty storm and had over 2 feet of snow and drifts in my driveway. Both of my vehicles were stuck beyond belief. I had to hand shovel for 2 hours just to make a small path to get one of the cars out to be able to get to work. Long story short, I got to work around noon, with a broken back and numb shoulders/arms. Timing is something that was never on my side!
