Better built implements

Quick set of front counter weights I put together. I use them when I'm brush hogging. Can be put on or off in 5 minutes.

there are some good ideas around here, but those weights look like they would be a pita to get on and off. also, the mounting design doesn't seem particularly stout.

once again, i find myself asking for the advise of our resident economist... does the posting of a design on this forum, which would be dated, constitute any sort of design ownership in lieu of a previously dated patent?

just curious.

I would be concerned that the bolts holding the weight to the tractor frame would bend the tractor frame. Maybe an up-grade of adding side plates to
spread the dynamic load over a larger frame area should be considered?

The Yanmar loader is well done, but the axle should be powered.

My dual action dump trailer tail gate (yawn). It may not be up to just any troll's superior standards so I doubt we'll ever see any of the OP's "Better built implements". But what the heck I got suckered into this farce of a challenge. Although I must admit it is interesting seeing real home made stuff made by real straight shoot'n men. Perhaps we will soon be amazed  (At this point I'm not holding my breath nor on the edge of my seat).

Does this count? - my home made land scape rake, powder coated, hydraulic controlled, rotates 360* with swivel offset. Completely home made from my CAD design, CNC plasma cutting of parts, new powder coat process.... yada, yada, yada.

You make this a hard choice for me, for ingenuity and quality of build, I'd have to say it's a toss up between you and 3RRL's "hydraulic everything" box blade. Both were interesting reads.

Well, I claim the prize for best value for pounds lifted for $$ spent versus pounds of implement to facilitate lifting.

$$ = 0.0, I scavenged some used axles/hubs from scrap laying around

implement weight = less than 20 lbs for the axles... maybe a little more if you count the non dedicated chains.

lift weight = 2800 lbs of concrete culvert turned into a corner post. This culvert cannot be otherwise lifted because FEL bucket or forks add so much weight that relief valve pops first. I have numerous of these culvert corner posts and use the implement several times a year as I place them for new fence corners or replace old wood ones.

Best corner I've ever found...never rot, pull out of the ground, rust, tip. Axle shafts fit into holes manufactured in the culvert explicitly for lifting.

Dig a hole and set one of those in it, and you could cook a whole pig. My brother put one of those in his back yard a number of years ago, and it's perfect for a deep pit BBQ. He just had a piece of 1/4" plate cut for a lid, and presto, works like a charm.

I'm having a difficult time rating this higher than the toothbars, dump trailers, hydraulic projects and tracked vehicles I've seen guys build on here...

I'm not an expert at this, but it seems to me that if you just posted a design without it being patented, somebody could easily take it and modify it a little, then say that they did it before you did...it's not honest but I'm sure it's happened before. You would have a hard time proving otherwise.
