Ford as increase the F150 tow rating from 67% since 1990 , while the Pd/f torque has increase only by 15% . from 315 to 365 pd/f . Go figure
I am more concerned with braking and handling than with engine power when they increase the tow capacities.

Toyota's 2011 towing rating for their Pick ups as drop by ''up to'' 1000. pds on certain models.
And this is according to Toyota's figures. They are advancing the new ratings of SAE J2807 that will be in effect for 2013 .
There will be standards for all the manufacurers and no more boosting from them as far the towing capacity.

I have a 93 and 09 F150. I am not sure the 09 has 67% more towing capacity but I do know which one I use when I have real load to tug. Modern trucks are definitely more capable than the trucks of a few years ago.

February 2011 Top 10 Pickup Truck Sales - PickupTrucks.com News
For all those who still think Ford is the best selling truck:

GM truck sales - 43,424
FORD truck sales - 37,549

No secret there. They are running excellent deals on the Silverado 1500 right now. You can get a 5.3L Crew Cab 4x4 for $300 a month on a lease. There are also a ton of orders for the 3.5L F-150. My dad just test drove one last week and the local dealer said he had nearly 100 on order. People are waiting on Ford right now to either get the new 3.5L or wait it out for a few months to see how the new engines pan out.

Sam Pierce Chevrolet is a Daleville Chevrolet dealer and a new car and used car Daleville IN Chevrolet dealership.

I know it does not show it but they have been running it on TV every 20 minutes. They do show a extended cab 4x4 for $281 per month.

wow.. 3.5l seems a tad smallish for a full size truck...

Do some reading on it, pretty impressive. Makes 360 HP and 420 FT TQ below 2500 rpm. Power like a diesel. 11,300# tow rating. Its a twin turbo V6 that gets decent mpg but I am a little disappointed its not closer to 30 mpg.

Last year the numbers were reversed with Ford selling 32,895 and GM selling 26,118.

I don't buy on numbers, I buy on what works. Yes, I like Fords but I also bought the worst selling truck on the list, the Nissan Titan because in my eyes for the model year 2008 it was the best truck in the 1/2 ton segment.

I would have expected the Titan to sell more. Less than 3000 trucks in two months. It doesn't really matter to me who buy how many of what truck. Personally I trust my opinions and feelings about what I find important more than other peoples.

According to everything I read the Titan/Armada was only desigend to be a 2000 per month unit. I never understood this? They never advertise them. Its really a great truck that just never got a following due to the low numbers.

Glad I got one and really glad they dissolved the partnership they had plans for to have Dodge build them. That would have been a disaster.
