Especially one with a CARS coil spring rear suspension
Boy you sure are "informed".
Please, tell me which "car" has a coil-over suspension with a rated payload of 1900 lbs. You obviously forgot your precious Ford has coil-overs in the front suspension. I wonder why they don't still use leaf springs up front like my old 94 F-350 diesel did.

I believe you said it best in another thread, "time for a change"...

I don't know that I agree with this totally. I just bought a 2010 F250 Power Stroke brand new. I don't think that it's the best truck on the market. I would have rather had a 2011 GM Crew Cab Diesel or a 2011 Ford Diesel IF money was no object. .

I agree.

buying something is many times a compromise between what we want, what we need, what we can find, and what we can afford.

ISometimes value isn't even the same across a particular brand as one dealer may be more willing to deal than another but only carries a particular brand.

Well said:thumbsup:

Since DiamondPilot seems to think that the company that sells the most trucks must be making the best truck, I thought I would point out that in January 2011, GM sold more trucks than Ford. :D

GM isn't trying too hard in the diesel market. The only way they can be had is loaded at close to 60K..That limits the audience to be sure. Ford may be the same, I don't know on that one.

just because you see lots with only $60k price tags doesn't mean that is what they all cost, it just means that is what that dealer likes to order in for options, based on the buying preferences of the bulk of their customers. if they don't have what you want you can always order one. i just spec'd one out - msrp $40,660 2011 gmc 2500hd 4x4 duramax. with fewer options there is generally less markup, but i'd have to guess you could buy something like this for somewhere between $35k-$40k. that's a far cry from $60k.

Another advantage of a factory order for a new truck is that if it is pre-sold, the dealer does not include it in his financed inventory and insurance. These costs are flat-rated by his bank and/or insurance company. This was a savings of $400.00 when I bought mine in 1990, but understand is now $1500.00. It might be small potatoes considering your total cost, but it all adds up.

HMMMMM... If that were the case why would I own a Titan? Also, where is the numbers on the Tundra? I guess it would fall somewhere near the bottom but you left it out.

As for the F-150 sales they are hurting right now because of orders for the 3.5L. My local little dealer we were just at Monday ordering my father a new Lincoln X-over and I was inquiring about the 3.5. The salesman has been there for over 30 years and he said he has never seen so much excitement about this truck. They have over 100 on pre order. The current inventory is just sitting.

GM is moving so many also because of the deals they have to combat the Ford right now. Crew cab V8 4x4 LTZ 1500 can be had for $269/mo on a 39 month lease. That is dirt cheap for a new truck. I know two guys who have gotten one at that deal int the last two weeks. Its on about every 10th commercial around here.

Hi everybody,

Over here in my area, there is about 10 GMC to one Ford or Chrysler, must be a regional thing, it does not mean they are better than Ford or Chrysler for that matter.
Ford is now giving up to 9,500.$ rebate on their 2011, 4x4 Super Crew Cab Pick-ups , that's alot of rebate, in order to boust their sales.

So you can't say that the #1 saler , is that important, it is how much profit it will result at the end.

Toyota has a very good and nice pick-up , and the sales are not that good , must be the price and their independant attitude they had before 2010, with their ''red tag'' non negotiable prices, and their low towing capacity.

I am looking to buy a second and pick-up ,been looking for a long time , but I find that they are very expensive compare to new ones.

Low tow capacity? Toyota Tundra with the 5.7 is right at the top of the class. I do not own one but a 2010 Tundra 4x4 Crew Cab can tow 10,100#..

Toyota's 2011 towing rating for their Pick ups as drop by ''up to'' 1000. pds on certain models.
And this is according to Toyota's figures. They are advancing the new ratings of SAE J2807 that will be in effect for 2013 .
There will be standards for all the manufacurers and no more boosting from them as far the towing capacity.
Ford as increase the F150 tow rating from 67% since 1990 , while the Pd/f torque has increase only by 15% . from 315 to 365 pd/f . Go figure
