I am outside the town of Van Alstyne, TX.
To earn the money you must start at the house, at a time and date that is acceptable to me, and mark the line at regular intervals or at least at each change of direction working back out to the meter box. Straight line distance is approximately 600 ft of gently sloping grass, mowed, with a few scattered trees. Pipe is approximately 3 ft deep. Your accuracy must be such that reasonable hand digging would uncover it anywhere along its length. You must be okay with video and the presence of other TBN members who may wish to attend as witnesses.
I know where the line is. Success will be judged by me. A declaration of failure may be appealed by digging up the line yourself anywhere except under my driveway and proving me wrong. If you prove me wrong I'll pay an extra $100 and put the dirt back in the hole myself. Otherwise you put the dirt back too.
Success gets you $1000 plus your reasonable, agreed upon expenses and some free beers. Please provide an estimate of your expected expenses along with your request to try this, as I am not willing to spend huge amounts bringing you from super far away just for this experiment. If you fail you will get only the free beer. Interested witnesses will also get free beer.
You don't owe me anything if you fail. This is not a bet. Neither is it an attempt to belittle your beliefs. It is just a good natured experiment with a prize.
If you really think you can do this PM me so we can discuss your probable expenses and a schedule. If we get past that I'll give you an address that is accurately found on Google maps and make the info public in this thread so as to invite interested witnesses.

I've always wanted to go Texas.... If it were a day trip it sure would be fun to give it a try! You are always welcome to come to PA and I can show you!! When I bought my house a couple of years ago I didn't know where anything was as far as the sewage pipes etc. I actually used bright orange marking paint and laid out my drainage field with all 3 fingers. It was way to consistant to be a fluke!!!

Interesting discussion, when searching for buried pipes, how do you differentiate between the underground water streams and the pipes you are looking for?

I never looked for under ground water streams just pipe, I do have some springs on my property and I will have to give that a try to see if it works the same way or not??
Do you just close your eyes and imagine what you're looking for, and the dowsing rods clue in and only find that?

No I just walk with them until they cross, no need to close my eyes or imagine anything.....

In another threat about finding pipes, I mentioned that I was able to get the L shaped rods to help me. The first place that I dug I hit a spring, the second the pipe I was looking for.
I have no idea how it works.
