Boom Pole from TSC - Any Good??

/ Boom Pole from TSC - Any Good?? #21
ive had one of tsc s booms for over 5yrs and have picked up 100s of things over 1000lbs with it, ive pulled large trees 100s of yards with the front tires in the air using the rear tires to steer, and I just used it to pick up my 800lb bush hog yesterday its a bit rusty now but still is going strong, JJ had a great adea of putting the reciever hitch on it, I was going to put a davit winch on mine but never did

I use mine to drag small trees and limbs. I lower the boom, chain off at the base of a bundle, lift it several feet and take off. Just like skidding a log it makes it much easier to pull and it's always nice to go forward.

TSC boom pole, $120, Local Co-op boom pole, $270
They look exactly the same, same rating (500 lbs).
So why the price difference?
Are they the same, or just look the same.
Is the cheaper one from TSC any good?
This would be for an 8N tractor.

Thanks.

i have an old tsc boom pole from about 10ys ago.. back when they were 49$ and still 500# rated.

I've picked up tons of stuff with mone. know I have lifted over 500# and have front of tractor come up a few times.

necter bent it or hurt it. has 90% of it's original paint on it too.

first tractor it got used on was my 8n.

The boom pole will get into tighter places than the bucket sometimes.:2cents:

heck.. when i was putting a topper ( canopy) on to one of my larger rops tractors, and my other tractor's loader would not lift high enough, I chained my boom pole into my loader bucket, and then used that to lift the topper.

topper weighed a few hundred pounds .. and was on the end of the boom pole via 2" webbed strapping, and all that at the upper end of my loaders reach.

worked great!

pics are of my 1955 ford 66 with ford 722 1-arm loader, and my 1978 ford 4600. i had just put rops on it that weekend, then welded up a topper for it.

The boom pole is very cheap compared to getting hurt. Buy if, if for no other reason to preserve your back. Moving things without injury should be your main reason to get it.

Boom poles are great, but the hoop at the end is poor IMO. Not very good to hook a chain to. I added a metal plate with a hook and a slot for chain, and a hole for a shackle. I also added another hook halfway down the boom. I figure this pretty much doubles my lift capacity at the half way point.

If you have a FEL the boom can add a lot of reach. I used mine to set a windmill tower.
