leonz, I cannot find that particular post about the dealer changing the fuel settings. I did find the one with 140 replies where you were going back and forth on this with several people. Do you happen to remember the dealership that adjusted the tractor?

To clarify on the fuel delivery issue that Leonz is referring to, basically the timing on the injection pump just needs to be retarded a little bit. They are advancing them beyond what they should be to get lower emissions. It just requires changing the shims under the top plate of the pump, which although is sounds easy it isn't something you should try without some mechanical knowledge and the service manual. I kind of doubt you would ever get a dealer to change this as they are probably bound by Kubota who is worried about the EPA.

My tractor is out of warranty now so when I get some spare time I might readjust the timing and do a writeup about it here. With that said, really it doesn't bother me enough to do anything about it, would only be to satisfy my curiosity. I bush hogged for 8hrs a day a few days last week and didn't feel any worse off than after operating any other tractor. Just by running at 2200 rpms instead of 2600 rpms for PTO work makes the vibration almost completely go away.

Verticaltrx, thanks for the info. What size bush hog are you running at 2200 RPM's? I would like to get a 5', but do not know how well it would work at lower RPM's. It would be great to find out who the dealer was that changed the settings, so we could speak with him. I definitely would not try it myself. As mechanical as I am, for some reason diesel engines intimidate me. I know, I know, they are much simpler. They are just not what I am used to, and it will just take some time maintaining and reading the service manual to get comfortable. I come from a marine outboard background, and this is all new to me. It would just be really great to know for sure this will not be a long term issue, as I want to enjoy my ownership experience.

I just sent you a PM about another B3200 owner

The 5' Kodiak I mentioned in your other thread. As with a lot of tractors, peak torque is actually at an RPM a bit lower than PTO speed. They just run the RPMs up to get the right gearing to get 540rpms on the PTO. However, the bush hog isn't very picky about what RPM you run it at (within reason) so it works just fine. I also run my sickle bar mower at about 2000-2200 RPMs, hay tedder at about 1800-2000, and post hole digger just above idle. I would say 90% of my tractor use is at 2000rpm, where it runs very smooth.

Gotcha. Would have never guessed the post hole digger would work well at such a low rpm, although I guess that one works off of torque and not speed. Man I have a lot to learn.

JW:

I only have about 35 holes worth with my Rhino 200 PHD on my B3300 but I used just a tad higher than idle to do all the holes. I'm in rocky territory and the PHD didn't seem to do any better job when going faster due to the engine revving higher. So I just conserved fuel. I've got < 20 hours on my B3300SU so far and have maybe gone over 2000 rpms once so don't feel any vibrations. I don't mow (yet) with my unit so not sure what the engine would feel like at 2700 rpm's.

I had 'some' vibration on our B3200 which didn't really bother me. I mentioned it and the discussion on TBN casually while shooting the bull with my dealer.
He quickly asked if he could do the mod as you described. I agreed and they picked up the 3200 the next day and returned it about a week later.
The vibration is gone, period.
I'll not discuss what caused the vibration, I don't do pee'ing contest, I just know the new operator platform/mat mod did what Kubota said it would.
You will love the B3200, enjoy it.

Update. Test drove at dealer, and there was a significant what I would describe as a high frequency vibration. I know that is not a real term, but I do not know how else to describe it. Kind of like the vibration you get from a weedeater. Dealer called tech rep. He, of course, was familiar with the issue. They are replacing the operator platform with an updated heavier unit, and a thicker rubber pad. Dealer was great, Franklin Kubota, and if I am not satisfied when they put the parts on, I do not have to do the deal. I hope it works, as I feel this tractor will handle all of my needs and more. Besides, I think I got a great deal, 16,100 for the B3200, FEL, and Rim Guard. Best deal I could find, and it is my closest dealer, who also turned out to be really nice guys! Keeping my fingers crossed.

Herein lies another problem, Kubota keeps pushing the rated RPM up so newer models have more power on the spec sheet. 2700rpms is what the B3300 is rated at, but IMO that is just too fast. The engine itself is the same as the B3200, B3030, B7800, etc. Kubota doesn't publish the torque output on these engines, but I would guess that they would all be identical. You'll be much happier with the performance, economy and longevity if you run it a bit under rated or PTO rpm.

Do you know what they did. The kit they gave me to install was already on the tractor:confused2:
