I would love to know how much of a difference you'll see between the two tractors but that would mean snow and I'm not ready for it yet. I think that 800 lbs alone is going to make a difference, I know it made a big difference for me when I added my ballast box. But I have hills to deal with and use chains.

Today I went across the road to where I use the tractor going up and down the hill and the 5740 is like a sports car going up the hill. It don't die down like the 4240 did and you can hear the little turbo whistling. Totally different sounding engine. Although I don't have the blower on yet you can tell the weights are there because the tractor isn't so lively or bouncy now. Time will tell. Come on snow :D

on that rain tracker system, what exactly do you have to tie it into? does it wire between the wires going to the wipers from factory?

my wiper motor is up top in both front and rear.. the switches are on the lower right side wheel well areas.

i guess ill go look at their site ....ohhhh google......

edit: yeiks. i found the site and they show wiring diagrams for cars and trucks. I see it wires into wires from both the wiper switchand the wash switch.

Ill bet you there arnt wiring diagrams for the Kioti hehe

doesnt look too hard though. I do wish the mfg put a time delay on the tractor though....to save the hastle.

I see that there not too $$$$ either.

The system is one of my favorite add on's but it was a pain to install. I asked the people at Rain Tracker about the hook up and they said they would need the tractors wiring diagram so I sent it to them then they told me it wasn't like a cars set up and didn't understand the way the switch worked with the motor and so on. I told them they we NO help at all and even mentioned it in my video.
I decided to go over the wiring diagram and do it myself and got it working. Now I have to do it again because of the new tractor :confused2:
It's a great system. On the Grand L's the wiper switches are up top. When you turn on the wiper it would make a few sweeps then start to jump on the windshield because it was to dry and then I'd have to reach all the way up there again to shut it off only to do it all over again-in a minute but after installing the Rain Tracker the sensor only turns the wiper on when it sees water or snow on the glass. Love it :). No more continuously reaching up to the switch.

well, my mods are nothing compared to the stuff you do, but i only need a flashing light to satisfy my homeowners board in order for me to snowplow/snow-blow the roads here.

I was looking at the mini justice bar and the responder series, but i really didn't need that much light bar to get in the way when I'm working under my overhangs and eves.

with this bracket i built, i still have clearance to run the horse corrals and under the eves, even with a slight increase from the packed snow.

I found some lighted switches that fit in the existing blanks on the side panel of the tractor, and there was already a spare 10 amp circuit there that i tapped into. I ran the wires inside the trim cover piece and out over the rear window. I HAVE to remove this light during summer months as i work in the trees, and this light is too much $$$ to smash on some branches. Its amazing how bright this light is. Whelen sure turns out some amazing products.

Anyways here a are few pics. I just used scrap metal from my growing pile to build it, and plasma cut the beacon base.

Nice job!

Did you know that you can get a branch guard?

Well the 4240 is no more. Drove it to it's new owner last evening. Took about 40 minutes to get there but he sure is happy. It's gone to a good home anyway and it will be in a heated garage with about 6 classic cars.
Anyway got the Rain Tracker installed in the 5740 tonight. Glad to have that over with. Also installed an AUX fuse box for the things I plan on adding and installed an accessory outlet up by the instrument panel. Doing all the re-installs in baby steps.
