Shaver HD10 not lifting pounder head

This is the plug I removed. I ordered the "optional plug" last Tuesday and was supposed to be here yesterday but didn't make it ($23). I am working with a company called Hyra-dyne in Oklahoma City, but their catalogue only shows the closed center and optional plugs, no mention of open center plug at all. I wish I had your rain problem, we have only had 2" of rain in about 6 months and that came in one day. We are in a mandatory burn ban, as a welder I must apply for an open flame permit to do any outside welding and have a fire dept inspector check the worksite. Unfortunately they are not issuing any permits to anyone for any reason until further notice. So I have to either break the law and risk starting a fire or work on my post driver. The only real problem I have with this (besides not making any money) is Devon Energy and the high way dept are still welding away on their projects, my complaints have fallen on deaf ears.

Thanks for the picture. I'm going out in about 1/2 hour to compare my plug. So this is the closed center plug. I'll post picture of mine later. Where are you from? We were flooding here, so too much rain isn't really good either. I can't even get the tractors in the fields for some time as everything is like mush. Let me know if you get your plug today and maybe you can post a pic. I'm going to look up hydra-dine on the web and if yours works, I'll have to order it too. A lot better than $198+shipping!

This is not your valve, but has some good illustrations and reading material.

Last page in particular.

http://www.surpluscenter.com/adspecs/AS9-6700.pdf

Some valves will use a hex screw inside the port to close off the open core, and then a plug to close off the port.

Other valves use a PB sleeve port adapter and then close off the PB port.

Does the same thing.

JJ,

This valve uses the same plug as Sparkslinger posted. My plug looks identical. My question is this: Is the open center plug just a flat plug? Can I cut off the middle post off this plug, flush with the plug, and reinstall it to turn the valve into an open center configuration? (See pic)

I posted the page from the v20 Parker/Gresen where it talks about the different options for your review. (see pic) Looks like the open center plug kir is just a closed center plug without the "plunger" I suggested to cut off.

Thanks,

Bill

Yes you can.

Thanks RickB for the quick answer!

You are in New York state, right? Did you guys get a lot of rain over the past week? 9" here. Today is the first day we had sun in a week.

Sparkslinger,

Try this company, they seem to have a lot of Gresen parts, too. They may even have a store near you. I found it after I found the part number in the manual below.

Motion Industries - Keeping Industry in Motion

Here is the link to the v20 manual from Parker:

I was thinking there was an o-ring or back up seal on the bottom of the plug, look inside and see if it is still in the hole. You don't want it floating around in the hyd circuit. Item 1 and 3 on page 3-5

I agree with Rick, just cut it off and smooth out.

Thanks for the reminder JJ, I went back in and removes the step washer, luckily it was still there. I am going to have to wait til Monday and see if I can get a PB sleve to go on my "optional plug".

It seems that if I drill thru my closed center plug, thread it for an outlet, reinstall it with the step washer and seal that would give me a PB outlet. Hopefully that would bring my three point back in play.........thoughts?

I don't believe I would drill and cut through the CC plug, it would have to be large enough to carry all the pump flow. Just wait on the PB sleeve.
