New - no tractor yet, but looking

Hello all,
I'm trying to find the right tractor to maintain 25 acres of pasture & woods so I thought I'd join up and do some research. I'll need it to do some bush hogging, loader work, eventually box scrape a gravel drive and backhoe/loader work to build a culvert bridge along with other various digging tasks. So far I've got my eye on a used Kubota MX5100 HST. I've settled on getting one in the 50 hp range to properly handle all my tasks, but still researching.

Glad to have you on board, and yes the MX5100 HST looks good. Also look at Kioti DK45SE or KD50SE, a little more upscale model with more bells and whistles for a little cheaper price. So you fly C 130's?

That is about the size I would want as my L5030 is used for pretty much the same thing only on a few more acres. Like James said, there are a lot of good tractors that fit right in that niche and I would consider them all.

the MX5100HST will fitt your needs very nicely.an its a top tractor to boot.an its easy to operate.

how much pasture and how much woods?

some times people find out the best tractor to have is really 2 tractors.

IE.. a scut or cut for small work inside the woods, possibly with 4x4 hst and a loader, and then a larger beefier 2wd model for the brute force jobs.

I can't speak to other current tractors, but I just purchased a Kubota MX5100 and it has exceeded all my expectations to-date. Local dealers play a huge role. Talk with people in your area and ask about service quality, issues, etc. I would recommend that you get the heavy duty roundback bucket if you are going to be doing a lot of digging, etc. This is my second Kubota and they are high quality tractors that are like the old Timex watches, "They take a licking and keep on ticking". Still flying? Many moons ago 135's were my bird, now just poke around from a backyard strip in my tinkertoy.
