Hooking up PTO w/ Engine Running

My BX25 is really a compact tractor. Hooking up the PTO was a real pain to hold it up, start the universal on the shaft, turn the PTO shaft to align the spline and fumble with the sleeve or pin locking device (I have both) all while scrunched into the limited space. Solved it; for each PTO shaft took a 4" bail type pipe hanger slid it over the plastic shaft guard, took a piece of all thread and double nut to hanger, bend a hook in the all thread to fit over the top link, set it all line the shaft up with the PTO spline, start the shaft on the spline use a large drift pin and turn the inplement shaft to align the spline, shoveit on, engage the locking device and all mis well. Each one is adjusted for that iplement and ties to the guard after connected. They make a hanger with a latch you could use and take off each time. Thought about it but figured they would either get lost or mixed up anyway. Now a one armed guy could do it. Us old guys have to find the easy ways to get around the stiff joints.

yep.. I do plenty o stuff that feels way LESS safe than working around my tractor.

like going to the range and seeing NEW people who have just bought their first gun... now that scares me...

Bingo! One of the ranges I use has stainless steel counters at the shooting stations and almost every one has a large impact impression from a gun going off and hitting the counter lip between the shooter and the range. Could be from bad handling while shooting (doubtful) or more likely from grabbing the trigger when picking up the handgun and discharging it while still on the counter.

Gives you a warm fuzzy feeling not unlike nausea when you think those people might standing next to you loading their shiny new pistol.

At least it shows a discharge in the right general direction. Maybe they just aimed low.

We often used a public range to qualify, but it was closed to the public when we used it; holes in the bathroom doors, benches, building walls, walkways cratered. I wouldn't go near that thing on a public use day.

just absolutely scarry.. and nobody polices their own brass anymore???

I know some guys that just show up with a bucket and broom and waste pan JUST to pick up brass every time the range goes cold.

I have never been to a gun range and after reading a couple of posts on another thread I was thinking it might be nice to check one out sometime so I could try some different handguns. Now you guys have pretty much convinced me it would be safer to just hook up with the pto turning than going to a gun range:laughing:
