Most common new tractor in North America?

MF has been a leader in world wide sale in the under 100HP category for a long time, and still is.

In my area CNH, AGCO, then JD.

Lots of opinions and lots of supporting data too. All very confusing. The real answer is tough to ever get to. Lot's of market niches to factor in. And I sure don't have the answer!

My opinion is that Kubota is the leader in tractors for 40 acres and less. They target the gentleman rancher type that has a day job of anything from mechanic to brain surgeon. They do make excellent machines for use in that area.

Now if you drop down the definition of "tractor" to include lawn tractors, well then MTD is probably the most common!

Of course there is more to selling tractors than just numbers, would you rather sell 100 BX series tractors or a handful of the JD9560R coming in at 560HP or how about combines and excavators. Kubota does not compete with the big boys, they are just at the consumer and small end of the agricultural spectrum along with some light duty construction.

Are there any tractors made in the US anymore?

For John Deere a lot of big stuff is made in the US, and the new 1000 series is also. The 2000 series is a rebranded Yanmar and I believe the 3000 series is as well. The 4000 series is made in the US but the engines are still Yanmar. JD makes there own engines above about 60HP and the smaller stuff is Yanmar. We just ordered a Kohler 60KW generator for the office and that has a JD turbo diesel engine in it.

Even though my 2520 is a Japanese Yanmar, the backhoe, plow and box blade where made in the US and the loader was made in Mexico. I would have preferred a US tractor, but it still has a good amount of US content.

Disclaimer, this is all from recollection.

As a businessman, I would "rather" sell a product I knew how to make well and earn a profit from. Hopefully, I'd have the good sense to avoid trying to make stuff where I couldn't meet those two requirements, particularly just for bragging rights. If Kubota knows how to make a buck selling 100 BX's, good for them. And good for Deere making a buck on the 9560's also.

I do agree just counting noses like that isn't very informative. Kind of like chihuahua's and draft horses are both "animals", I guess. Cheers.

Not sure about across America but in my neck of the woods I see more Kubotas followed closely by JD.

If you are talking about just driving around and looking what is on other peoples properties, farms, and ranches, in Texas it is JD by a wide margin, 10 to 1 or more. The rest are a mix of NH, Kubota. Most of the JD's look old, so I don't know about NEW tractors.

The main difference is in the poop quantity.......:D
